Paul, who is at the bottom of most polls of GOP voters but has gotten considerable attention for his performances at the presidential debates, appeared to enjoy his time with Colbert.

Not bad for a candidate who earlier in the day told USA TODAY’s Susan Page he had never seen the show. (Though we know he is familiar with Comedy Central.)

Here’s what Page is planning to report in an upcoming story:

Ron Paul was interviewed Wednesday as he took a train to New York from Washington to appear on a TV program.

What program?

Paul, shuffling papers to find the name, said, “Colbert.”

Stephen Colbert?

“Yeah,” he replied. “I’ve never seen his show.”

This reporter cautioned that Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report sometimes tries to, well, have a little fun with its guests.

“Everybody should have a little fun,” Paul said.

“Everybody should have a little fun.”

Yes, and under these big governments we start having less and less.

I can't believe he killed the interview with Colbert so well and didn't even know who he was.

Colbert is unbelievably tough with politicians. I'd like to see some other candidates try it.

There is a reason why Dr. Paul has been the only candidate in Colbert's "Meet the presidential candidates... who will talk to me" series. Ron Paul isn't afraid people like Colbert and Jon Stewart because there isn't anything that they can trip him up on, since he is so consistent and tells the truth.

That's correct, you can't Nail this man.

They're grasping at straws with the first-class flights, racists remarks he didn't write, and saying he's for child molesters.
