US willing to provide Turkey ammunition for Idlib, US special envoy says

The U.S. is willing to provide ammunition to Turkey for its operation in Idlib, northwestern Syria, U.S. special envoy for Syria James Jeffrey said Tuesday.

Turkey has requested Patriot missiles amid heightened military tension in Idlib.

Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey David Satterfield also said the U.S. is considering the Turkish request for air defense systems.

Attacks by the forces of the Bashar Assad regime have killed 55 Turkish soldiers in the past month in Idlib. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has threatened to push back Assad forces if they do not pull back to predetermined lines.
