A protest by about 300,000 Ukrainians angered by their government's decision to freeze integration with the West turned violent Sunday, when a group of demonstrators besieged the president's office and police drove them back with truncheons, tear gas and flash grenades. Dozens of people were injured.

The mass rally in central Kiev defied a government ban on protests on Independence Square, in the biggest show of anger over President Viktor Yanukovych's refusal to sign a political and economic agreement with the European Union.

The protesters also were infuriated by the violent dispersal of a small, opposition rally two nights before.

While opposition leaders called for a nationwide strike and prolonged peaceful street protests to demand that the government resign, several thousand people broke away and marched to Yanukovych's nearby office.

Me too. Anyone advocating to force their fellow countrymen into EU slavery deserves to be beaten.

In 10, 5 years they will be regretting it. LOL and yes Obama supporters are supporting the Pro EU protesters go figure.

A lot of people don't even know what they're violently protesting in #Kiev they just know they're sick of the bullshit

LOL, WTF? what dumbass wants in the EU , I would make them tear gas and beat themselves, lol

There is a whole network of NGO`s across Europe who are financed by European funds and who are used against any government they perceive is not in the EU interests. If they want to they can take any country to the knees, the protesters don't work and they can protest forever but the government can't have its capital and main cities being closed for a long time.If you don't have international help you are done because either path you take ( brutality or compromise ) will be your downfall.

On twitter there is Republican user claiming to be libertarian yet she is supporting the EU. She has avoided several issues which was asked. If you support the EU then you would rather support the Big Government and thats what the EU is.

The same people behind the current protests in Ukraine are the same people whom were behind Otpor, Libya and Syria. I am missing anyone? oh Egypt.

Better what? Last I checked the implementation of force by government was frowned upon in libertarian circles, irregardless of what cause that force is used in favor of or against.

Exactly. rep+

I am still holding out some hope that the MSM is distorting the view of the Ukrainian people and most protesters are just angry at the corrupt president. My girlfriend's father lives there, after she talks to him about it I will report back.

Yet when our media reports that were such peaceful protesters they would never show these images.

Peaceful just like the Syrian and Libyan activists when they start attacking police officers thats not being peaceful. By the way that metal piece you see in the image could have easily killed any one of the officers by just swanning it at one of them.
