Women-only train carriages should be considered to combat increasing sexual violence on public transport, a Labour frontbencher has said.

Shadow fire minister Chris Williamson said creating separate travelling arrangements for female passengers might offer "a safe space" for women as sexual offences on trains have more than doubled in the past five years.

It follows a 17-year-old girl being sexually assaulted twice, by two different men on a train journey between Newquay and Plymouth as she made her way home from the Boardmasters festival on August 12.

Some 1,448 offences were reported in 2016/17, compared with 650 incidents in 2012/2013, British Transport Police figures show.

The idea was initially suggested by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn during his 2015 leadership bid, but the plans were dropped after attracting criticism, including from prominent women Labour MPs such as Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall.

But are you sure life wouldn't be better if you lived with your own kind? I mean you have told me how your family have suffered and have been insulted by people of colour.

Another slippery slope fallacy. Take the hospital for example, the Labour and delivery is segregated from the rest of the hospital. The patient there have an extra layer of security(need wrist bands to come in and locked doors), the unit has bigger room, better nurse to patient ratio, the nurse wear a different uniform and you as a floor nurse will never be floated to L&D for any reason. They do this explicitly to protect them.

They are not made prisoners and other patient population punished for it. I don't necessarily support this move but I am under no illusion that this move would lead to anything that archaic.

If women don't deserve their own bathrooms because men can declare themselves to be women...then how do they get their own train? When rank and file women finally realize how the LGBTQABCDEFG movement really is not in their best interest it will be very much too late.

Was subjected to in flight "entertainment" yesterday that amounted to some B list Jerry Springer type giving lie detector tests to willing ratings victims.

Couple "2" was a typical pair of lesbians, one dumpy house-frau looking woman paired with the "man" lesbian, complete with buzzcut and tattoos.

They beat the crap out each other worse than all the others, with the studio mob cheering them on.
