So, a couple months ago, a possum figured out my cat door. Then he told his friends. Been trying to dissuade them from entering the house, turned into a constant invasion. Didn't want to kill one in the house on account of the mess. Tried pepper spray, pest repellant, scaring them, hitting them with broomsticks so they looked elsewhere, nothing worked. Tonight I had enough, damn things got in while I was up zeroing my new rifle and scattered the garbage literally all. over. the. house. I was done. I laid in wait in ambush. Took the first one with that fancy LMT308, decided that while I can hit a quarter at 100yd it was a bit more problematic at 20 foot. Took the second with a .40 pistol. That was a lot easier. Waiting now to see if #3 will try to make entry. Gonna stack dead opossum like cordwood. Don't care. Fkem. Shred my house to bits when you know damn good and well you aren't wanted eh? Dead. Possom.

You don't think possums are cute ?
No. Especially not when they are shredding my house.

That thing looks like a zombified cat from hell. lol.

I've seen possums as pets before, they were pretty cute.....

But yeah I get why you don't want large wild rats like these in your house.

Apparently possum look different in different parts of the world. In Canada they can actually be prized for their coats. Around here they just look (and act) like gigantic diseased rats. And they get vicious when cornered.

May be that some kinds of posssum are cute and make good pets. Not Carolina feral possum. No giant rats for me, and especially not inside my house making threats against me and muh critterz!

They're nasty and mean. Gunny's right, they're not worth eating unless you feed them and even then they're not very good - according to my dad. Good job, Gunny.

We have a little armadillo invasion going on. I noticed the ground dug up around my butterfly bushes and my son said he saw one wandering around the yard last week. We see them all over the side of the road around here - they look like possum on the half shell but that's the first live one spotted in muh yard, My uncle told me I better get rid of them because they'll tear your yard up.

Ya' know Gunny, a dog will keep 'em gone..

You cat people baffle me to no end.....

Not my dog. He's let all kinds of shit come through our doggie door. I've found other dogs in our house eating his food, laying in his bed, and there was a stray kitten once that had him terrified. He's a lover, not a fighter.

Armadillos are the only other animal besides humans that can be a host for leprosy.
Opossums generally can't catch rabies because their body temperature is too low.

and that concludes our random little animals facts show for the day.

I found an empty tub of egg salad in my workshop while I was still building it, the doors weren't in there yet. I couldn't figure out why there was this empty tub of egg salad from a brand I had never bought before... Then after a while I thought I saw a rat.. Turned out to be a ferret. I caught it and it turned out to be a very social animal, probably someones pet. I gave it some beef and found people that kept ferrets who wanted to take him or her...

But that pic made me laugh my ass off. :D

They live near me. Haven't been inside my place though (third floor). They do spend the day in trees and when it gets dark you can sometimes hear the "thud" as they hit the ground. Sometimes you hear really loud hissing and whining when they fight with each other.

Be careful taking care of them. Especially around your mother-in-law.

I saw an armadillo on our way to church in South Nashville over the summer. I can't imagine they made it this far north. Possums are a way of life here.
