New Delhi: Turkey has threatened Israel with unprecedented action after Israeli forces attacked an aid vessel, killing 10 peace activists headed to Gaza.

A shocked world has responded with outrage. Turkey recalled its ambassador to Israel and warned of unprecedented and incalculable reprisals.

Two Turkish activists were reported to be among those killed in the flotilla. Ankara warned that further supply vessels will be sent to Gaza, escorted by the Turkish Navy, a development with unpredictable consequences.

Israel has sounded an alert throughout the country fearing rocket attacks by Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Israel said 10 people died while those on the ship said at least 15 were killed.

If Israel attacks those Turkish ships, its supposed to mean that Israel has attacked NATO.

For it to be considered an outright attack, those turkish ships would have to be in international waters at the time.

Turkey had called some NATO maeeting though, I just hope US doesn't join any NATO war with Israel if it came to that, US economy cannot afford opening a new front.

The U.S was part of NATO when the U.S.S Liberty was attacked, jus' saying.

They claimed to have thought that the ship was Arabian. While that claim is dubious, it is not incomprehensible. An attack on a NATO battle group that has publicly announced when and where it will be will leave no shred of doubt. The US will be forced to go to war with Israel, or it will have to withdraw from NATO (or more likely, dissolve it).

If Israel attacks Turkey, the Europeans may retaliate, and that retaliation may take the form of a preemptive nuclear strike, given Israel's assertion that they would take the world down with them if invaded.

could really stay out of it? it would be a tricky situation for the US but Obama and the military would find a way to get involved. and i have a feeling they would back israel, even if it meant leaving or dissolving NATO. how is Turkey's army looking?

if obama is trying to talk down the turks as we speak, he
needs concessions from the israelis in terms of the gaza.

The U.S. will NEVER send troops to Israel. We'd be far more likely to invade Turkey.

Even if we upheld treaty obligations with Turkey, which we ought to so long as we are members of NATO, it is unlikely we'd actually occupy Israel. Turkey would support Palestine, and we'd be obligated to join them, and Israel would probably immediately surrender given it just lost its biggest ally, assuming any nuclear MAD is a bluff, and I believe it is. Israel would probably go back to pre-67 borders and lose any ability to build a further wall. This situation has the potential for complete disaster for Israel. The only way they could possibly break out even is if Israel is never forced to show its poor hand due to a lack of guts in the other parties potentially involved.

wouldn't the treaty obligations only apply if Israel bombs Ankara or something like that?

If they commit an unprovoked act of war it applies. Attacking a convoy of ships registered under your country (I'm not sure what country the ships were registered under) unprovoked is an act of war.

Turkey should be telling the world WHY the humanitarian vessels can and will enter GAZA port.

Lay it all out there in advance as to your legal basis so their isn't a shadow of doubt.

As far as I am aware we have no forces stationed in Israel, right? We do have Air Force bases in Turkey so I think if push comes to shove, even the Israelis who hold mighty leverage on the American political system won't have enough to have us side with them. That's my realistic outlook if something is to happen.

Personally, I'm fed up with all the bullshit. I wonder how long it'll take before the masses wise up to the wise men that foretold all these happenings on the American people. Perhaps they may even wise up if they really do care for security because the only safe nation is a Neutral nation.

You gotta source for this Tmosley?
Yesterday the Israelis had not yet released the names of the dead. Does anyone know of any headway here?
