Now Trump wants Walmart to pay the price for the negative effects from his tariff agenda. To all of Trump's supporters here, be reminded that he is not a capitalist.

Callahan Auto is officially severing all ties with Walmart! It’s come to my attention they raised prices on Callan Brake Pads (in the name of tariffs) even though we manufacture and source 100% in the USA!!!

Our system is democratic capitalism. Thats how our country has operated since we ended slavery.

"To secure to each laborer the whole product of his labor, or as nearly as possible, is a worthy object of any good government."

"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if Labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."

-Abraham Lincoln

While tariffs obviously make prices go up, I wouldn't be the slightest bit shocked if Wal-Mart was playing political games with their pricing in addition to whatever natural price increases that result from tariffs.

Big Tom Callahan must be some kind of idiot if he thinks that tariffs won't increase prices of things made in the USA. And most likely, he himself is already raising his prices for these brake pads. If not, he's making a dumb mistake that the market will force him to correct eventually.

Brake pads are made from recycled metal and plastics type resins , I dont know but would expect all items to be available domestically so product may be immune , but ya , many products will be included in extra increases

If he isn't raising his prices, he is a complete and utter moron who has no business in business, and nothing he says about the matter should be taken seriously.

The whole point of tariffs is to protect domestic producers from or to mitigate the consequences of raising their prices vis-à-vis their foreign competitors.

Being available domestically doesn't make it immune.

If prices of brake pads in China go up because of tariffs, then prices of brake pads made in the US will be purchased more as a substitute for their Chinese made competitors, and their prices will go up, or else they'll just sell out on account of their prices being artificially kept too low. Walmart is doing exactly the right thing by raising the prices of the American made ones alongside the Chinese made ones. To complain about their doing this shows utter economic ignorance. And like I said, if Big Tom Callahan hasn't already figured out that his own response to this should be to raise his prices at the wholesale stage (but I bet he has, and he's just a self-serving liar), then he soon will.

If Walmart is dumb enough to agree with Big Tom's demands not to raise their prices on his brake pads, and he is dumb enough not to raise his prices that he charges them, then some less dumb person will just go to Walmart, and buy up all their Callahan brake pads and turn around and resell them at the higher prices that Walmart should have been charging for them all along, and get the profits that Big Tom and Walmart voluntarily forfeit. Meanwhile, Big Tom's competitors and Walmart's competitors, will just raise their prices, instead of succumbing to idiocy, and rake in the profits that Big Tom and Walmart voluntarily forswore.

Tax cuts for the rich, loss of healthcare and higher prices for the poor.
AI and Crypto boons for the rich, Real ID and Stripping of Free Speech and Assembly for the poor.

I get it. But not enough seem to understand whose side he is really on.
