Peace talks bought time, so the new framework could be set up. Ukraine will be fully integrated with USEUCOM. This is a permanent strategic profile. The work transcends presidents. There can be peace but no DEMIL. Russia will have to adjust its goals. It can keep some of its new territory (at least for a while), but the neutrality and demilitarization is not going to happen. If Russia desires that, it will have to conquer all of Ukraine by force. The Pentagon views the whole Ukraine Project as a major WIN. It has Finland and Sweden in NATO. It is building the largest base in Romania. It has most of Europe buying more than ever from the MIC. It will command Ukraine air space and unfettered logistical support for the UAF. If Russia doesn't like it, that's their problem.

Paul Craig Roberts was right all along. Russia had to take down all of Ukraine and install a new government in the early stage. That opportunity was lost and now Russia has and will pay the price. Every day Russia holds off, Ukraine gets more fully integrated with the Pentagon. It won't be long before Trump OK's officers and advisers, technicians, etc. He will say they aren't "troops", it's a ruse. The long term goal is NATO membership and Russia will eat it because Russia is being surrounded on all sides.

If Russia takes the peace deal, it gains only the territory, and US is calling its bluff now. Probably because US is prepared to commit in battle over Ukraine if it comes down to that.
