It was his generals. And Obama. Though he made the call to make the attack which Obama delayed fearing civilian casualties. Trump says they got "lots of good information" from the raid though some disagree.

Trump responds to father of Navy SEAL killed in Yemen raid

President Trump responded to the father calling for an investigation of his Navy SEAL son's death in a Yemen military raid, with the president expressing sympathy for the service member's family but defending the mission as one "that started before I got here."

"This was something that they were looking at for a long time doing," Trump said in an interview on "Fox & Friends" that aired this morning. "And according to Gen. [James] Mattis it was a very successful mission. They got tremendous amounts of information."

"This was a mission that started before I got here," the president said.

The January raid in Yemen resulted in the death of Navy SEAL William "Ryan" Owens, 36, and injuries to three other Navy SEALS. Fourteen militants were killed in the raid. U.S. Central Command also said in early February that "civilian noncombatants likely were killed," which may have included children.

Owens' father, Bill, told the Miami Herald in a recent interview that he did not want to meet Trump when the president attended Owens' dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Feb. 1.

“I told them I didn’t want to make a scene about it, but my conscience wouldn’t let me talk to him,” Bill Owens told the Florida newspaper on Friday.

Owens also called for an investigation into his son's death and additionally said he was troubled by Trump's treatment of the Khans, a Gold Star family of a Muslim soldier killed in Iraq.

Trump said Tuesday, "They explained what they wanted to do, the generals, who are very respected. My generals are the most respected we've had in many decades, I believe. And they lost Ryan."

Trump went on to say, "I was at the airport when the casket came in, the body came in and it was a very sad with the family and it's a great family -- incredible wife and children. I met most of the family."

"And I can understand people saying that. I would feel -- I would feel, what's worse? There is nothing worse," Trump said.

The risk comes with the job. None of them have been drafted.

+1 ever since Vietnam Americans pule whenever we take any casualties, that said however, WE SHOULD NOT BE THERE.

As far as the blame goes, I read somewhere that the SEALs involved said the enemy seemed to be waiting for them, so I immediately suspect the "Regional Partner" forces of duplicity, or maybe even anti-trump US Intel decided to leak this raid to the enemy.

One of the worst excuses I've ever heard for irresponsible interventionist meddling. $250M spent on the raid. 15 women and children dead. No significant intelligence gained. To what "America First" objective should we attribute this mission?

Fuck you Trump. You wanted to be potus. You signed off on this. You own it like a man, not make excuses like a whining little bitch.

trump doesn't seem to need any help from you. He's passing the buck quite nicely.

At best, we can hope the Owens' sacrifice will get the potus to ask more questions in the future instead of just telling his generals "Yeah, go for it. America F Yeah."

You missed the "WE SHOULD NOT BE THERE"
All Caps wasn't eye catching enough?
DUMP gets no points from me on foreign policy, though I still hope he might garner less demerits than HRC would have, or than Obummer and Baby Bush did.

Worst fault a commander can have. Not Accept responsibility for his decisions. Piece of Shit. Pay fucking attention to the details of the decisions you are about to make. People die now with what this asshole ignorantly does.

To thinking individuals, that quote would have conjured the realization that this attitude also included countrymen and their families.
This is where I turned solidly against Trump and he could never cross over to the better of two evils status in my mind. Then as a veteran when the five time draft dodger stated the military would kill the families if he ordered them it made me see red.

Seals call the shots on the ground. Not the general, not the commander in the bunker, not the intel team in theater, not the coc.

Yes Trump green lighted the missions, but to cast blame for deaths in a military operation? What do you expect?

Trump's gonna be a war monger type president unless enough anti-war conservatives holler at him and of course we can count on the left to put on their anti-war smocks.

Can't blame Trump for the individual death, but sure as hell can blame him for not putting a freeze on the war machine that spawns terrorism.

Trump is malleable to the people. The time for people to form anti-political pro-freedom issue coalitions have never been more ripe.

Understandable. And I agree.

His letter of condolence to the family damned well better be written by hand.

Last puppet has been out of office and is no longer separating ISIS from ISIL, Trump should start taking responsibility if he is going to with anything planned by DGP regime that had made a bad mess in mideast a horrible mess.
If he has evidence that DGP misled transition team, he should present evidence to Congress immediately.

Quote:
Even if planning was done by Obama team, Trump will have to take responsibility for this now that media has started to report on wars again and if it is confirmed that Obama admin did not mislead the new team. There is no evidence in media that this was another "landmine" Obama laid for Trump despite such accusations in other cases.

Yemen SEAL Raid Has Yielded No Significant Intelligence: Officials

Exclusive: No Intel of Value Yielded From Deadly Yemen Raid, So Far, Sources Say 2:21

Last month's deadly commando raid in Yemen, which cost the lives of a U.S. Navy SEAL and a number of children, has so far yielded no significant intelligence, U.S. officials told NBC News.
Although Pentagon officials have said the raid produced "actionable intelligence," senior officials who spoke to NBC News said they were unaware of any, even as the father of the dead SEAL questioned the premise of the raid in an interview with the Miami Herald published Sunday.
"Why at this time did there have to be this stupid mission when it wasn't even barely a week into [President Trump's] administration?" Bill Owens, whose youngest son Ryan was killed during the raid, said. "For two years prior ... everything was missiles and drones (in Yemen)....Now all of a sudden we had to make this grand display?"

In addition to the death of Ryan Owens, six other U.S. service members were wounded. And at least 25 civilians were killed, including nine children under the age of 13, according to the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. One of them was the 8-year-old daughter of U.S.-born al Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
A Pentagon official told NBC News today the Pentagon does not dispute these numbers.
A $70 million U.S. aircraft also was destroyed.
The Pentagon already has at least three investigations into the raid underway.
"When we look at evidently very little actual intelligence out, the loss of a high-performance aircraft and above all the loss of a highly trained special forces member of SEAL Team 6, I think we need to understand why this mission, why now, what happened, and what the actual output was," Stavridis said.
