Trump Campaign Lies About Melania Trump's Nonexistent College Degree

First Lady hopeful Melania Trump has been under fire ever since she just so happened to repeat (nearly word for word) parts of Michelle Obama’s convention speech from 2008 last night. Now, Melania is left with the task of proving her credibility. And the Trump campaign isn’t making her job any easier.

As Politico points out, the official RNC schedule notes that Melania obtained “a degree in design and architecture at University in Slovenia” at some point. They tell us exactly when she signed a modeling career in Milan (1988), and they tell us exactly when Melania moved to New York (1996). When she left college is never specified, so we’re left to assume that the degree acquisition happened sometime in that range.

Melania’s own website offers something similar:

The only problem is that, according to pretty much everyone else, Melania Trump never actually graduated from college.

In a recent New York Times article—buried way, way down—the Times notes that “Melania’s entire family sensed potential in her modeling. After high school, she concentrated on her career, dropping out of architecture school. (She still claims on her website to have graduated.)”

The New Yorker, too, wrote back in May, “Her Web site states that she obtained a degree in architecture and design from the University of Ljubljana when in fact she dropped out in her first year.”

So why did the program flat out lie about Melania’s “degrees”? It’s especially odd considering it would have been all too easy for the Trump campaign to touch only vaguely on Melania’s education experience. This wouldn’t have been any more honest necessarily, but it certainly would have been a far shrewder tactic than outright lying about something that can be so easily disproved.

This latest flub just adds to the growing body of evidence that not only is the Trump campaign dishonest, they’re incompetent, too.

This should be an easy enough controversy to resolve.

They aren't very incompetent at keeping themselves out of the media headlines, and off the front page at RPF - and they are using anti-Trump folks to keep the attention on 24/7. It's genius.

That's not enough.

After what the press did to Ron Paul, they should be tarred, feathered, and ridden out of town on a rail.

Hmm...genius? For being seen as grifters? Why bother with a lie? If they are playing the media for a fool, the longer this floats without rebuttal then the longer the story gains traction that sticks in people's minds and the later denials play off like retractions of a news story buried below the fold on page 6.

Genius? Not so much.

Wow, you really don't get it, do you? Trump is winning because he has dominated the headlines for the last year. It doesn't matter what the content of those headlines were, he is winning because his name was in them, every day, for a year.

In the meantime, CPUd and a few other folks on here have dominated the front page of RPFs with negative press against Trump.. at a time when the media is literally choking on their own vomit, about to pass on into the ether...

You guys don't realize you are doing your part to promote Donald Trump more than most of the Trump supporters here.

Scroll down to post #20, he outlined his strategy decades ago. I'm telling you what it is, you are saying it's a bad strategy, Donald Trump is winning. Think about it.

No, you don't get it. He isn't winning. Do you really think he would enjoy the job if he got it? He cannot even remain within a marriage because it is work. The man may want to not lose face through losing in the election but if he won, well, that's when the real work begins and it lasts a bit longer than a season of a tv program. It isn't winning for a narcissist to see their name in print with scathing commentary day in and day out regardless of the bravado with which he puts forth his disgust of the media. He brings it up repeatedly because to a narcissist it eats at them and he can.not.let.it.go.

And all the rejoicing about media disappearing, really? People are going to get their information from somewhere. The media needs to reinvent itself with advances in technology, but people will seek out sources for information.

Doing my part to promote Trump? That's an odd way to view someone posting trending stories in the subforum they belong in. Perhaps Trump supporters think with their anti media stance they can put their heads in the sand and ignore trending stories, but the stories won't go away just because you don't see them. If folks vote for someone just to spite the media then odds are pretty high they aren't very deep thinkers.

Liberty folks should be looking into what is driving the mainstream voters who are both a bad choice for anyone who values liberty and gauge what needs to be done to further liberty not these false promises of security being pimped by the one party system.

"Clinton and her backers have doled out a total of $45 million on ads so far in the general election."
"Trump and his supporters have spent about $3 million in ad spending."

Poll: Clinton and Trump Now Tied as GOP Convention Kicks Off

I think even the most skeptical would have to put that in the Win column ;)

*That tallies up to Hillary outspending Trump 15-to-1

A win? For liberty or authoritarianism? Odd way for liberty voters to be cheering on what qualifies as a win nowadays on this forum.

Isn't this part of a convention bounce, announcement of his VP choice, and coming off of a perfect opportunity with the email problem? Ya know, when Trump decided talking to bugs and acting like a senile old man was a good call rather than focusing on the other candidate's screw up?

The press will forget all about this and stop making fun of the GOP in a week or so when they start covering the convention:

You could learn a lot of you would pay attention.

I did pay attention to the last video and told you how there were several glaring errors in his argument. He did not help me learn anything other than to question his depth of knowledge and motivation. Not interested in a repeat of that right now.

The star of a reality TV show, outspent 15-to-1 by a career politician every talking head for the past 2 years has been calling a shoe-in.

Rounding the home stretch, they are neck and neck, as the talking heads suck desperately for some semblance of credibility.

= Winning.

Trump continually lies about things he need not lie about.

Sociopaths lie continually not only because it helps them to advance themselves but because they enjoy it.

Trump makes Ted Cruz look honest, which is a feat I thought I'd never see.
