Yes, the planned White House State Ballroom is significantly larger in total square footage than the White House itself.[2] [3] [4]

According to www.iAsk.Ai - Ask AI:

The White House State Ballroom, currently under construction, is designed to be approximately 90,000 total square feet.[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] In contrast, the main White House building, also known as the Executive Residence, is approximately 55,000 square feet.[4] This means the new ballroom complex is nearly double the size of the main White House building.[2] [4]

But still not big enough for his ego.

Congress? LOL.

Lame beyond belief.

But it will be the best ballroom. A yuuuuuge ballroom. The best.

How can America be great again without a great ballroom?

When was it originally built?

How much history is being erased?

Anyway, what they're really doing is fortifying the emergency bunker which is situated below ground.

I don't get why Democrats care about this when previous presidents have made renovations to the White House.

Quite honestly I do not care. I don't even identify with this country anymore.
I'm only here for old family members. I never wanted to see Washington D.C.

But if I had a choice, I would reject it. The costs for upkeep and staffing alone will be very high.
Imagine the crowds they will be hosting. Corruption reigns supreme in this land.

Yeah, it all about Trump's ego. He wants his name on it.

I don't mind the idea of expanding for a larger gathering space, if there is no other official ballroom/dining hall for that, especially if it is paid for by donations.

That doesn't change the fact that for Trump, it is all about his legacy.

Trump is different in his egotistic desire to have his face on Mt. Rushmore, and have his name remembered like a Caesar from the Roman Empire. Likewise, the Chinese (and Xi) have that same national empire desire.

The approval process has been criticized as the demolition of the East Wing began without prior approval from the NCPC

WASHINGTON (AP) — Demolition to build President Donald Trump’s new ballroom off the East Wing of the White House can begin without approval of the commission tasked with vetting construction of federal buildings, the Trump-appointed head of the panel said Thursday.

Will Scharf, who is also the White House staff secretary...

Scharf is a lawyer with no education or experience in buildings.

Donations will get kickbacks and the end result will be a massive eyesore that will cost billions for generations to come
just to maintain and staff.

It's a public venue for his personal fundraising.
