Trump Admin Plans To DOUBLE Its Bailout Of Milei’s Argentina To $40 Billion

At a White House meeting Tuesday with Milei, Republican President Donald Trump said his administration wanted to help “our neighbors” with the aid package, but he also suggested that the money could be pulled if Milei’s party did not prevail in the Oct. 26 midterm elections.

“If he loses, we are not going to be generous with Argentina,” Trump said.

Looks like the US gov has a favorite candidate in Argentina, I wonder why that is huh

$40 billion I dont think is enough maybe $80 billion is better

What an el cheapo. I was thinking the sky's the limit so why stop there. When are we going to start agreeing with each other again? :shrugging:

I thought the conservatives and libertarians liked Milei. Wasn't he supposed to be Argentina's Ron Paul?

What happened?

Not to nitpick, but last I heard the Legislative Branch had to authorize spending. How is this Constitutional?

Its a currency swap for the 20 billion so in theory there isn't any spending.

The other 20 billion is supposed to be from private investors.

If he was really Argentina's Ron Paul he would have ended his country's central bank instead of promising to tie the peso to the dollar.

I'm not sure if he started off as a CIA plant or was just converted to one but the result is the same

"I still have the same number of dollars so I haven't lost any money"

Wow good job you just disproved inflation.

In most arrangements atleast they are designed to curb inflationary pressures on currency.

Governments do this often to prop up their own currency.

China did that after the pandemic while we had high interest rates.

It ended up being really profitable.

Trump doesn't see that there is any benefit but whats the alternative to Milei?

If Milei stays in power how much of a benefit to our economy is there?

Do we have any economic interests in Argentina that would be seized if a socialist government took over?

If socialist governments started to spread throughout the region would it impact our economic or national security interests?

Actions have consequences but so does inaction.

I don't think even Ron Paul could have ended the FED if he won in 2012.

So by your measure of purity even he couldn't have passed the bar.

You should never let the dream of a perfect leader be the enemy of a good leader.

There's a difference in not being able to end the fed, and then going and deliberately choosing to tie your currency to the dollar

It was one of several indicators he was a fraud, the others were his positions on Ukraine and Israel

How is he the blame? His policys curbed the inflation substantially he cut taxes and the government ran a surplus.

Libertarians and conservatives have been praising his austerity measures for years.

Monthly Inflation rates have gone from from 25.5% in December 2023 to less than 2% by October 2025.

Does he align with the USA on foreign affairs?

Sounds pretty smart to me.

If I were the leader of a country I wouldn't be telling the USA fuck you.

Have you seen Venezuela’s economy?
