Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is getting some 2016 encouragement from several of the GOP’s top donors, with Sheldon Adelson signing up as a co-chair for a March 3 fundraiser for the senator’s testing-the-waters political committee, Security Through Strength.

Graham’s “luncheon and policy discussion” at the Capitol Hill club will be held right after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint meeting of Congress. Donors are invited to watch together, before being joined by Graham.

In addition to Adelson, other prominent donors among the 33 co-chairs include Oracle co-CEO Safra Catz, hedge fund manager Seth Klarman, real estate developer David Flaum and homebuilding magnate Larry Mizel. The invitation asks for a donation of $2,700 to be a co-chair and $1,000 to attend.

The discussion will be moderated by Matt Brooks, executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition. Joining Graham as guest speakers will be Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), former Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.), Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), former Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.).

I'm actually kind of hoping Graham joins the race. He definitely won't be taking any votes away from Rand

That's true. However, if he backs out, then the even more crazy candidates John Bolton and Peter King would jump in. They would get less attention and be more rabid in attacking Rand. Since they are even less likable than Graham, the primary electorate would side with Rand, and the attention he gets would cement his status as one of the prime frontrunners. Graham is the only one of the real neocon candidates that says he isn't running to "take out Rand" but to win.

What's funny is that the neocons seem to think that Rand doesn't like to talk about foreign policy, when on the contrary, he's bringing it up all the time. Rand doesn't just want to defend or deflect his foreign policy views; - he wants to campaign on them.

Also, while I am a libertarian and agree with him and the liberty-movement on a host of US-domestic policy issues, I would not, as a foreigner, bother to post or read this forum if it wasn't for the fact that his foreign policy would be good for the world as a whole, and importantly - he also has a chance to win and implement it. (Oh, I also find US politics fascinating and took some USA-courses earlier in my studies)
