Basically Romey is attacking Obama on the keystone pipeline... and that if he was president, if it came down to it, he'd build it himself. lol

How come we dont build refineries along the US/canadian borders... isntead of building a pipeline from canada to texas?.

so wouldn't it be less bothersome to build a refinery near the canadian border? im sure some of the border states would welcome a refinery/jobs/help local economy.

i guess its probably more expensive to build an entire refinery than to build pumping stations and putting together a few thousand miles of pipping.

I actually heard those oil going to texas from Canada are meant to go to foreign countries and not us. If we demand refineries built by the border, it will come to us.

Your telling me it would be easier to build a whole new refinery on some unknown piece of land then build a pipeline?

Not only less bothersome, but it would make a lot of sense ... Currently we can only refine approximately 25% of what we can produce ... We pay for the difference due to limited refining capacity.

I think states like Montana or North Dakota would welcome a refinery or two to provide jobs and put in money into local economy. Seems too much troube building a pipeline that goes through like 6 states, thousands of miles piping to maintain, affecting many private property, pissing off tree huggers, getting beauracracies in many states/county involved and etc.

Some people mentioned that we dont have enough refining capabilities and that we export refined gas. If the increase in gas price is partly because of the supply (other part is the dollar losing value)... why do we export the gas?

BLEH... the keystone pipeline seems dumb and won't help alleviate the high gas prices.

Because Fed Steps In It

The typical first step for fed—is step in it. Subsequently, fed whips out the red-tape and wraps it up tight; for the intrinsic characteristic of fed’s second step, fortifies zilch; guaranteeing you a long fight.

The Keystone Calamity: TransCanada proposed—February 9, 2005—the final Environmental impact report was released on August 26, 2011. It stated that the pipeline would pose "no significant impacts" if environmental protection measures are followed.

Evidently, Mr. Obama concluded that more study was needed to compensate another group of K-street-cronies, or environmental phonies—proceeds from shakedowns can enhance campaign contributions.

Fed red-tape forces upgrades and expansions—new is cost prohibitive. The last time a new oil refinery was built in the US was 1993, a small one in Valdez, Alaska—the last new large refinery was in 1976.

A secret blend of legerdemain and fallacious campaigns is the precise recipe for “creating” meaningful issues out of meaningless minutia.
