what we should be getting students to read is their state constitutions, not the federal one - the federal one is the only one 'pushed' by federal dept. of education, when all of the duties and responsiblities of each sovereign state's citizens are actually outlined in the state constitutions, not the federal one.
This push of the federal constitution as the 'supreme law of the land' wasn't done 'by mistake' - it is part of the manipulation. There is only one supreme set of laws, and they are in the principles this nation was founded upon - nothing is more 'supreme' than that which makes life possible - be it your creator, or simply the principles of freedom and liberty themselves.
Ron Paul is fighting hard to give us back state rights - but how will anyone be able to know what their state rights are, what sorts of protections there are to keep them and their neighbors safe, unless they know about, read and study their state constitutions?
We've been fooled into believing that all of our 'power', as USA citizens, comes from the federal constitution, but the real power and responsiblity is in state, town and city government. It's how this nation was supposed to be - a lot of differently structured nations unto themselves, each sovereign, united only by the agreeance to a very small set of principles, but different in ways that allowed all religions and non-religions to find a state to live in that made it possible for them to be at peace with their creator - and to abide by and respect their state constitution.
Which is why some states will allow the death penalty for certain crimes, but other states won't allow it - it's vital things be varied, as in some religions it's okay to 'eye for an eye', and in some religions, only the creator can judge and/or take vengence - and even for non-religious folks, there's still a base of morality that they choose to abide by and need a state the reflects it in their constitution.
Many seniors are leaving our educational insitutions without knowledge about anything but the federal constitution - state ones hardly get a mention in text books or by teachers. I've spent years reading my childrens text books on government, and looking at tests and quizzes that force them to give inaccurate answers in order to get a good grade - public school text books are a huge part of the illogical, immoral and dizzying, confusing downward spiral of the republic.
