Dr. Paul Participates in Helping a Hero
On Saturday, I was honored to join my wife, Kelley, Congressman Andy Barr and Lee Greenwood (who brought the crowd to its feet when he sang "God Bless the USA") as Matt Bradford and his wife, Amanda, were presented with the key to their new home in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Two champions of this project were HelpingAHero.org founder Meredith Iler and builder Randall Peterson.
Literally hundreds of well-wishers from the community turned out to welcome the Bradfords to their new custom-built home. Kelley and I are humbled to have played a small role in this project.

Sen. Paul Receives Response from FBI Regarding Drones
On Monday, I received further correspondence from the Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding my concern over the use of FBI surveillance drones on U.S. soil.
The FBI responded by saying that they don't necessarily need a warrant to deploy domestic drone use. I disagree with this interpretation. However, given the fact that they did respond to my concerns over drone use on U.S. soil.

Dr. Paul Hosts "Success for Our Children: A Forum on School Choice"
On Tuesday, I joined Sens. Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Lamar Alexander (Tenn.), and Tim Scott (S.C.) in hosting a forum on school choice. The forum consisted of three panels composed of parents and students from Washington, D.C.'s top performing charter and private schools, as well as representatives from D.C. Prep, KIPP D.C., Washington Latin, the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, Alliance for School Choice and the D.C. Charter School Board.
Every decision made by bureaucrats in Washington is a decision taken from the people who actually educate our children -- principals, teachers, and especially parents. On Tuesday, I spoke with these people at a school choice forum and I was moved by each success story.
Young boys and girls, who might not have otherwise had the opportunity to excel, have become successful leaders in their communities--due to receiving a better education than they otherwise would have. All children, no matter who they are or where they live, deserve an equal chance to develop their skills and intellect. Each student I spoke with on Tuesday was eager to learn, succeed and grow, and by nurturing the ideals of choice and individual freedom, we can find education solutions that direct all of our children toward success.

KIPP Academy Roundtable with Sen. Alexander in Nashville
(Sen. Paul with TeAndrea Jackson and KIPP Principal Laura Miguez Howarth - 07/29/13)
On Monday I met with educators, students and interested citizens at KIPP Nashville, one of several charter schools in Tennessee. I was also joined by Senator Lamar Alexander, Tennessee Commissioner of Education Kevin Huffman, Tennessee Speaker of the House Beth Harwell and Kentucky State Representative Jim DeCesare. I was interested in learning more about the growing success that Tennessee, Kentucky's neighbor to the south, is experiencing with public charter schools. TeAndrea Jackson (a 2013 high school graduate who is now headed to college) shared with us about the positive impact of charter school education in her life. When asked what the federal delegation can do to improve education, she said, "Help us spread the word about charter schools!"

Dr. Paul Receives the Person of Conscience Pillar Award
On Tuesday, I received the Person of Conscience Pillar Award at the Civil and Human Rights Conference in Washington, D.C. I am honored to receive this award with Sen. Ron Wyden and Congressional Black Caucus Chair, Representative Marcia Fudge.
(Dr. Paul Addressing the Civil and Human Rights Conference before receiving the Pillar Award- July 30, 2013)
Dr. Paul Meets with the Kentucky Association of Hospice and Palliative Care
Also on Tuesday, I sat down with members of the Kentucky Association of Hospice and Palliative Care to discuss how the implementation of Obamacare will affect Hospice and Palliative Care programs.
(Sen. Paul and the Kentucky Association of Hospice and Palliative Care - July 30, 2013)
Senate Votes on Paul Egypt Aid Amendment
On Wednesday, the U.S. Senate voted on my amendment to S. 1243, the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill. My amendment would have stopped military foreign assistance to Egypt by enforcing current law that the Obama Administration is violating, which prohibits the United States from providing foreign assistance to nations that experience a military coups d'état.
That money would be redirected to the "Bridges in Critical Corridors" fund in S.1243. Prior to the vote, I took to the Senate floor to discuss my amendment.

Dr. Paul and Dr. Coburn Introduce Legislation to Restore Constitutional Limitations on Congressional Power
On Wednesday, I joined Sen. Tom Coburn M.D. (R-Okla.) in introducing the Enumerated Powers Act of 2013. This bill gives members of Congress the procedural tools necessary to stop unconstitutional legislation.
When I ran for the Senate, one of my promises was to fight to pass an Enumerated Powers Act. Politicians in Washington should abide by their oath to uphold the Constitution by only legislating within the powers it gives to the federal government. I am proud to be the lead co-sponsor of Senator Coburn's bill to make this a reality.

Dr. Paul Speaks at Young Americans for Liberty Convention
On Wednesday night, I joined Sens. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Ted Cruz (R-Tx) in kicking off the 5th Annual YAL National Convention. We participated in a live-stream roundtable discussion with YAL members from across the nation.
(Senators Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee along with Jeff Frazee of YAL- July 31, 2013)
Dr. Paul Speaks at Congressional Intern Lecture Series
On Thursday morning, I was invited to speak before 400 Congressional interns at the Congressional Lecture Series and I was honored to act as the closing speaker for such a wonderful event.
(Sen. Paul speaking at the Congressional Intern Lecture Series- August 1, 2013)
Dr. Paul Introduces Medicare Reform Plan: The Congressional Health Care for Seniors Act
On Thursday, I Introduced my Medicare Reform Plan, the Congressional Health Care for Seniors Act (CHCSA). This bill will not only fix the Medicare system in its entirety, it also saves taxpayers $1 trillion in the first 10 years. This plan will provide better health care benefits, choice, quality, and outcomes by enrolling all senior citizens into the same health care plan as Members of Congress and other federal employees.
As a doctor, I have had firsthand experience with the vast problems facing health care in the United States. Medicare, as we know it, is broken and in desperate need of reform. It is indefinitely $43 trillion short and must be reformed now before it's too late. My plan fixes the Medicare system, and gives seniors access to the best health care plans enjoyed currently by Members of Congress and does so without breaking the bank.

Dr. Paul Meets with Student Government Leaders from Kentucky Colleges and Universities
Also on Thursday, I had the privilege of meeting with students from the University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, Western Kentucky University and Eastern Kentucky University. We discussed student loans and how the sequester effects individual schools.
(Sen. Paul with student government leaders from the University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, Western Kentucky University and Eastern Kentucky University- August 1, 2013)
