The Who's halftime tribute to Obama

It's one of their biggest hits and it was in the original song (Written in 1971). Would not get my hopes up.

Art often unwittingly reflects on society. Tom Petty sang "Free Falling" two years ago at the halftime show. I doubt a single silly drunk main stream statist slave in the crowd recognized the irony when they chanted along with The Who.

The Who is a great band. But Pete Townsend is a piece of shit who got caught with child porn on his computer. Fuck Pete!!!!!!!

Some interesting comments about the song on Wikipedia:

I guess so... wow.

Townshend stated in 2006 that: "It is not precisely a song that decries revolution - it suggests that we will indeed fight in the streets - but that revolution, like all action can have results we cannot predict. Don't expect to see what you expect to see. Expect nothing and you might gain everything. The song was meant to let politicians and revolutionaries alike know that what lay in the centre of my life was not for sale, and could not be co-opted into any obvious cause. [...] From 1971 - when I wrote Won't Get Fooled Again - to 1985, there was a transition in me from refusal to be co-opted by activists, to a refusal to be judged by people I found jaded and compliant in Thatcher's Britain.

Love The Who --- was a good performance

I got over the Who when I saw them live in the late 80's. They were performing by rote. But if they had had a stage shoe like that one, I might still be a fan. That was awesome!

So Townshend is a libertarian and he probably doesn't realize it. The concept of a political boss in general is abhorrent to human nature. The only true revolution is "there is no new boss, away with the old boss."

I saw them in Germany back in "75 when Keith was still with them.

Something can be abhorrent to you and still exist. There is a "new boss," whether or not you want to admit it. He is very much still the same as the "old boss." Admitting such does not constitute an endorsement of either person, but rather an indictment of people who want to pretend there's a difference.

"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." Anybody else catch it?

Yes....I was hoping for a Sinead O'Connor moment. Daltrey pulling out a picture of Bush and Obama for the Crowd during that line.
:D
