When do you think they will officially announce support for Ron Paul? I mean come on, he's the champion of the Constitution, and they are all about the Second Amendment. One would think Ron Paul and the NRA go together like two peas in a pod, and with over 4 million members, that will have a great deal of influence over his campaign. What do you guys think?

I agree the NRA is not for Vermont type gun laws, they want people registered. The Gun Owners Of America truly back the 2nd amendment and they support Paul. Quit the NRA and join the GOA.

We need to get GOA members involved in the campaign. I have researched them and they have over 250,000 members. They can all sign up for Meetups and donate to the campaign. We should start contacting GOA's HQ after July, as it seems they are vacationing this month.

P.S. - I know they have Ron Paul on their front page, but they haven't really done anything to mobilize their members yet. They already mobilized them on the immigration issue, and they seemed to have succeeded thus far.

The NRA is a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE organization. Support the Gunowners of America, which is the NO COMPROMISE gun-rights organization.

I dropped my membership to the NRA last summer and will never go back. Gun Owners of America on the other hand, is the only major gun rights organization that doesnt compromise. Screw the NRA.

NRA is basically part of the Republican Party establishment. Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership is another good organization.

Waiting period?

Do you think ROn Paul would enforce a "waiting period" for gun buyers?
I sure hope so. Otherwise, it will be a free for all. THAT would be scary.

Don't hold your breath. The NRA did the administration's bidding by supporting Dr. Paul's DEMOCRATIC opponent in the last election, despite RP's perfect record on 2nd amendment rights.

Dr. Paul has embarrassed the NRA on several occasions by opposing legislation that THEY supported because he felt it was a violation of the 2nd amendment.

The NRA is a sellout. I have been telling all the members I know for years to tear up their cards and send their dues to lobby groups like Gun Owners of America or Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, both organizations that support the 2nd amendment strictly instead of the boot-licking, crumbs from the table begging N.R.A.

I think that would be a state issue. The federal government should not have say on something that is protected by the 2nd amendment. Ron Paul is for LESS federal power and MORE state power.

What is scary is the prospect of all Americans' guns being registered, so the government knows right where to go to pick them up. Just like what happened in Germany and so many other countries. Now, THAT is what is scary!

Unfortunately, the NRA often compromises and sells us out. I will not be renewing my membership after they screwed us on the Mccarthy bill recently. They also like to spend too much time sucking up to gun owners that are only about hunting. I've got nothing against that, but that's not the kind of stuff I'm into.

I do think we could get some support from Gun Owners of America and JPFO, I have a much higher opinion of them than I do the NRA.

Like everything else in this election....their will be multiple splits.
The Christian vote is slpit and gun vote will be split....etc.

The GOP is at a crossroads.......a major one.

It wasn't a "free for all" the week prior to the stupid quota laws. 1 a month etc etc. It's stupid. What will two guns do that one won't? If used in violent crime, people are just as dead when shot twice with one gun, or shot once each with two guns.

It's a stupid law and just another example of the anti-gun crowd trying to pass ANY and EVERY gun control legislation they can imagine.....regardless of if it actually accomplishes anything good.

Also.......they'll never register all the guns in the U.S. Hell, they won't even register HALF of the guns in the U.S. Requiring registration of firearms is about as stupid as giving a dead guy a flu vaccine. Only thing it's going to do is contribute to our ever expanding prison population.............and at the cost of individual liberty and innocent citizens.

Personally, i don't care if they do put my name on a list, make gun registration mandatory, or even OUTLAW guns completely......i'll still have mine, they won't be registered either. Katrina really woke me up to the fact that some day soon i might actually be FORCED to defend my 2nd amendment rights just the way the founding fathers intended.
