So, why does Rand pimp it?

One of my closest friends, a Texas Ron Paul supporter, has attended meetings on the pipeline. Her husband is also a career oil and gas man. Here are some of things I've learned about the pipeline:

Texans are probably more familiar with leasing their property to oil and gas companies than anyone. It's quite common, they make money on it, and they don't oppose doing it. However, with the KPL, when the line is run across their property, they will not be able to go within a specified distance of it without it being a federal offense. This means wherever the line bisects their property, they can't cross their own damn land.

The plan for the line material specs is the same as for regular crude but the KPL will be pumping tar sands which are very abrasive and full of toxins. This means that the abrasive tar sands will cause leaks and environmental damage.

The claims about jobs are untrue. Pipelines are run by computer with just a few operators. The construction jobs will be short term. It will not take long to build. So, there will be no big payoff in jobs. That's just a sales pitch.

This will not provide the US with more oil. The oil will go on the international market after being refined in Texas.

Why does Rand completely disregard the wishes of all of the private property owners who are fighting so hard to stop this?
