“The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.”

bump for comment - got this one from a progressive on another site.

Raising or not raising the debt ceiling has nothing to do with the validity of the current public debt.

There is enough tax income to cover those, right? Well, except maybe repelling a rebellion, that might make a really big bundle for the MIC and the Mercs/Contractors.

There's good stuff in it too. It guaranteed citizenship to African-Americans.

Then I don't support repealing that part, although ultimately I think "citizenship" is a problem and should be abolished. If I wasn't born a citizen I wouldn't apply for it. I have no loyalty to any State.

This part is clearly tyrannical though.

Section 4 was created to ensure that the debt incurred by the Federal government to wage the War of Northern Aggression would not be challenged. It also absolved the Confederacy of any debts incurred over it's attempts towards independence. It was written within the context of securing the peace of the Union.

. Just like the right to keep and bear arms SHALL not be infringed .......fuck them!

Shall is mandatory when it suits them....fuck them again.

What the hell does that even mean? The "validity"? Does that mean whether or not it was proper under the Constitution? Shall not be "questioned" by whom? In what way? Is this protection for the people who bought Union war bonds?

The 14th Amendment did not free the slaves- it made all Americans citizens to the federal government and made the entire population slaves. We can now see the results of this very questionable amendment.
