The Civil Rights Act

Do you support, or would you have supported, the Civil Rights Act of 1964? Also, and maybe more important, would you support or gave supported in 1964 a civil rights act on the state level, in order to deal with the issue without the constitutionalist considerations.
 
Not the most hardcore libertarian on the face of the planet, but I am strongly against the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It does one thing and one thing only as far as I'm concerned. It protects racists. Racist should be free to express their hateful ideology so the rest of us can judge them as bigots they are.
