Any Ron Paul supporters in Canada in the house? Please post if you exist!

This thread is for you so we know how many we are, where we are so we can organize and meet, and who we are. Looking forward to meeting like-minded liberty and brushfires-of-freedom starters/gas throwers in Canada.

I'll start. My name is Louis, currently in Vancouver, BC. Immigrated to Canada when I was 7. I'm an entrepreneur and have my own business. Became aware of RP in 2011 but policy-wise on same page since 2009-2010.

Current concerns: FREEDOM (or continuous erosion thereof), personal responsibility, taxes, excessive local government spending, plus federal as well.

I'm not Canadian, but the highest liberty-leaning office holders are MP Scott Reid from Ontario and MLA Danielle Smith, Leader of the Opposition in Alberta. Smith used to intern at the Fraser Institute in Vancouver (pretty much the Canadian Cato) and Reid is a contributing editor to Liberty magazine (which used to be edited by Rothbard).

Harper will probably retire before the next election, so it may be a good idea to try to draft Reid for Leader of the Conservative Party. Reid is pro-life, anti-gay marriage, pro-monarchy and pro-Israel, just so you are aware. I like this as I am a social conservative myself (except monarchy of course, but perhaps that is because I'm American), but I know a lot of people don't. He is very good on most issues, including drug legalization at the provincial level and strongly opposed ATA, the Canadian equivalent to the Patriot Act. He's probably closest to someone like Rand Paul or Mike Lee in the USA, a libertarian-leaning social conservative at the federal level. He would still make an excellent Prime Minister.

Smith is a strong candidate for Premier of Alberta in the next provincial elections there. She is younger and less experienced than Reid. She supports gay marriage and is pro-choice. She does have some un-libertarian positions though, like banning corporate and union donations in Alberta elections. She has taken no position on issues like drug legalization. She's probably closest to Gary Johnson in the US, a socially liberal libertarian at the state level, but she does co-operate with social conservatives a lot. Probably the best choice for libertarian Albertans, even though I disagree with her on social issues.

I am from Toronto and I got to know Ron Paul through watching Peter Schiff videos back in 2008. I wasn't into politics until Ron Paul came along and I was mostly into American politics cause Canadian politics tend to be really boring. Maybe it's because of the msm in Canada are mostly left wing (the usual suspects: CBC, Canadian Press, Toronto Star, G&M) keep trying to frame the view that this country is a progressive country and attacking big government is anti-Canadian. In a way, thanks to what is going on in the EU and the U.S., many of the average Canadian see the harm in big government and high taxes so I think it's a great opportunity right now for conservatives and libertarians to take advantage of the situation.
