Texas State Convention Live Stream

Thank you so much, Kory!

What was the Rule 33 tussle about? I saw mention on twitter but no discussion of what change was stopped. Only that there would be a minority report.

on the rules discussion today, there were tweets saying there was a challenge to Rule 33 but it was voted down, but there was going to be a minority report. It sounded like the tweeters thought it was significant. I thought since you were there you might know what they were talking about.

^^^ this ^^^ and thank you KMX.

It got turned down b/c of the way it was worded, said that only atfer 2016 will they HAVE term limits. But then you have to think what about the people that get elected in 2014, They can be re elect as many times as they want? Did not make sense.

Yeah,

2 days ago , we debated a coma and the word "and" for almost an hour. LOL

Day-One of the Texas State Convention will begin in a few hours! Get ready for lots of boring speeches, rubbing elbows with boring establishment types and maybe a vote or two. Oh, and the Ron Paul speech durring the first breakout session.

For those wondering what is important today.

"During the first general session there will be discussion and a vote on when to have the election of the permanent chair. Vote to have it during the first general session, not any later. This is not an issue where they are cheating now, but it is an issue where people have cheated in the past and we want to make that not happen in the future."

We have no agenda for who should be the chair, however when they elect the chair has been an issue in Texas for years. Rules say it should be done in the first general session, however they wait until a day or two later. Until then the temporary chair (who is actually the TCGOP state chair Steve Munisteri) runs everything, which is not how it should be. At least this is my understanding of the issue. We will be voting for Steve Munisteri anyways, as he is fair, even if he is not a RP supporter. The point is to stop them from continuing to elect the chair later in the sessions for future conventions.

The rule of law and rules is a bitch for the party, so often.

We bought into the whole "Chair is fair" thing and that landed us right into the parking lot convention.
