Texas is Turning Blue… Thanks to Republicans

By Terresa Monroe-Hamilton - March 8, 2025

Texas isn’t turning blue because Democrats are winning—it’s turning blue because Republicans are letting them, betraying their voters, and handing the state over to the Left on a silver platter.

Conservative attorney and TheBlaze contributor Daniel Horowitz held an eye-opening livestream this week with Rep. Brian Harrison (R) to discuss how Texas conservatives are being co-opted by leadership in the Lone Star state that is empowering Democrats. According to Horowitz, “It’s worse than you think.”

The conversation goes in-depth behind the scenes to explain the tactics and psychology that RINOs in the state are using to empower Democrats, obstruct Republican priorities, and paint themselves as conservatives when they are anything but that. Because of these underhanded antics, a deep-red state is turning blue, and if Texas falls to the progressives, American conservatism is dead. As Texas goes, so goes America.

As Horowitz points out, Texas is the second-largest state in the union, only surpassed by Alaska. Texans are known to be independent and wildly conservative, but Democrats have flocked to the state, bringing their politics with them. Helping them out are Republicans in Name Only, who are more interested in money and power than conservative principles. These RINOs are enabling a soft coup.

Texas Lurches Leftward

Horowitz begins the conversation by astutely pointing out that four years after COVID, Texas is still persecuting doctors for warning against the dangers of the COVID vaccine and using ivermectin to treat the virus. Politicians in Texas legitimize global warming, the LGBTQ+ agenda, and a whole list of other liberal agenda items while growing the budget every single year. That’s not conservative, but they push it like it is and think voters are stupid enough to buy it.

Under the leadership of Governor Abbott (R), Texas has still been unable to stop illegal immigration. According to Horowitz, 40% of graduate programs within state universities are full of foreign students. People love to blame the Democrats, but why aren’t the Republicans stopping this? They typically have a two-to-one majority in the legislature there. Nothing seems to change.

Horowitz is correct when he points out that this is the greatest form of voter fraud. Trump won by a huge margin and was given a solidly conservative mandate. Despite that, actual conservative issues are still stalled and failing in Texas. Why is that exactly? It’s because Texas does not have enough constitutional conservatives in its ranks – real Republicans who believe in less government, less debt, less taxes, and less regulation.

A True Conservative Speaks Up

One of the good ones is Representative Brian Harrison from Ellis County, Texas. He’s in his second term and previously served in the Trump administration. Harrison is attempting to build a Freedom Caucus in Texas.

Harrison believes that the Republicans in power are deliberately handing Texas to the Democrats:

We, here in Texas… we’ve got a 25-seat majority. And unlike in DC, where Republicans sometimes control one branch of power or one half of one branch of power, in the state of Texas, we have the governor’s mansion, lieutenant governor’s office, every statewide office, and massive majorities in both the Texas House and Texas Senate. So, anything we fail to do, that’s on Republicans and any bad socialist thing that passes, that’s because of Republicans.

I’ve never seen treachery and betrayal of voters like I’ve just witnessed in the last three weeks. We’re on the heels of this unprecedented primary, on the heels of Trump’s mandate in the state of Texas. 30 so-called Republicans teamed up with 50 Democrats to co-opt and take over the entire leadership structure in the Texas House.

And the first thing they did was pass the Democrat Empowerment Act, which made it illegal for Republicans to be vice chairs of any committee. Gave Democrats more power than they have ever wielded in the history of the Texas House since Republicans took over in 2003, and as you mentioned, I was proud to have served in a senior capacity under President Trump, and in DC, there was a coalition that fought us.

This shit is getting ridiculous, we have a Republican majority and we let these Democrats do all kinds of stupid shit

If Texas becomes a blue state, we can blame it solely on Greg Abbot.
Unfortunately, Texas has the same old problem of Democrats moving there because they have destroyed the blue state they left.

"Crime is rampant, garbage is everywhere, homeless are shitting in the streets, housing is unaffordable, can't get a good job, traffic jams everyday. So let's move to a red state and make them suffer too! We can turn this place into a shithole in twenty years or less."

Bunch of goddam sellouts, every time.

When Constitutional Carry was killed the first time, it was because a Republican appointed a Democrat to a key position...
