So I'll just say that Ted Cruz is doing what is popular with the party right now, and that's stroking Cold War egos. He's trying to appear "strong" on foreign policy in comparison to the apparently "tepid" Obama response. I swear, neocons must live in a different universe if they believe Obama has been tepid on foreign policy, whatever that even means.
