Taxes?

So I just got to thinking, are we taxed more now under the American Empire and counterfeiting inflation makers (FED) than the colonist were under the British Empire? I mean they had other problems too (well we do too, just different) but I was just wondering.

P.S. No this is not another lets grab our guns and start a violent revolution thread. (But I do like the RP r3volution )

Wow! That almost makes me want to get a job where I don't have income taxes automatically taken out so I can chose not to pay them. Of course all that (decreasing in value) money won't do me any good in jail, but...
