Susan Sarandon: Donald Trump Might Be Better Than Hillary Clinton
by Daniel Nussbaum - 29 Mar 2016

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) backer Susan Sarandon is not sure she could bring herself to vote for Hillary Clinton if the Vermont senator fails to win the Democratic Party’s nomination — and besides, she says, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump may be the better option over Clinton, anyway.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes on Monday, the 69-year-old Thelma and Louise star and avid Sanders campaigner said that independent voters and grassroots progressives may have trouble pulling the lever for Clinton in November.

“That’s a legitimate concern, because they’re very passionate and very principled,” Sarandon said of the possibility that Sanders supporters could simply walk away if Clinton becomes the nominee.
...
“I think Bernie would probably encourage people to [support Hillary if he loses] because he doesn’t have any ego in this thing,” the actress conceded. “But I think a lot of people are, ‘sorry, I just can’t bring myself to [vote for Hillary].'”

When Hayes asked Sarandon how she would vote in a Trump-Clinton matchup, the actress replied: “I don’t know, I’m going to see what happens.”

“Really?” a surprised Hayes pressed.

“Really,” Sarandon replied. “You know, some people feel that Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately. If he gets in then things will really explode. Some people feel that.”

Noting her first choice is Sanders. Later she did tweet (sorry, I don't know how to copy a tweet- suggestions as to how welcomed!) she won't be voting for Trump.

“You know, some people feel that Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately,” Sarandon said. “If he gets in, then things will really explode.”

Some took this exchange to mean that Sarandon was more inclined to vote for Trump than Clinton, a notion which she rejected via social media with an “LOL.”

Noting her first choice is Sanders.

Noting she sees the truth about Clinton clearly enough to vote for a candidate not of the Democratic Party.

A third party like the LP could do well in this one, if its supporters were smart enough to realize that Democrats aren't contagious.

I'm reasonably sure Susan Sarandon would consider Gary Johnson a less distasteful choice than either Clinton or Trump. And absolutely positive she isn't the only one.

Trump basically IS a third party candidate. There isn't anybody with enough appeal to win as a third party candidate.

Well, if she wont vote for Hillary, she has to vote for somebody. And the only other choice is Trump.

She didn't say SHE won't vote for Hillary.

I just sent her a tweet suggesting she should look into voting Libertarian if Bernie doesn't win the nomination.

The GOP is a third party now?

You've been in England too long. The Whig Party was defunct by the Civil War Zippy.

Yes- Trump is running under the Republican label but he really ins't a real Republican. He is using his own aparatus and money to get elected.

Good job! Very diplomatic of you to say 'if' instead of 'when'.

Careful. When certain Americans realize that sort of 'once a Democrat always a Democrat' attitude means you consider Reagan a Democrat, that kind of talk becomes dangerous.

He may not be a Republican, but he plays one on TV. That's good enough for most people. Hell, if you were an American, and didn't know the words to God Save the Queen, you'd realize that the fact he wears a ball cap is good enough for most people.

LOL. Uhhh...no he's not.

There isn't anybody with enough appeal to win as a third party candidate.

There is enough appeal for a 3rd party candidate to peel off enough votes to play spoiler. Gary Johnson will probably soak up a lot of dems who can't bring themselves to vote for Hillary and republicans who can't bring themselves to vote for Trump.

Provided we stop playing with the spammers and help.

Revolution? Why would the Progs want to revolt?
