Suggestions on how Rand's campaign can do better

I am solidly with Rand, but you have to admit, Trump doesn't back down from a fight. I want Rand to talk a little tougher and be more confrontational. His remarks need to spawn conversation among voters. I'm with Rand, but I don't have much to give my friends right now.

The interesting thing is....................that my advisers told me to be less confrontational and more politically correct.

He is the most confrontational person in the field after Trump. If he does nothing else, he hits his opponents. There was chart a while back showing that he was literally the most confrontational Republican by far. He has been in fights with literally EVERYONE. Remember fighting Chris Chrisite? Remember hitting Rubio during the Cuba? He seemed pretty confrontational during the NSA filibuster. He was pretty confrontational with his Debbie Wasserman abortion question? He seemed pretty confrontational shushing that reporter and not backing down to Guthrie.

 Did you really just say that?

Rand is trying to be this Obama like multi-spectrum flim flam artist and it comes across poor. He should have never deviated from what got him here. You don't mess with success.

I agree. When he released his last "kill the tax code" video, I was embarrassed they played the Jimi Hendrix Star Spangled Banner. I've been plugging Rand Paul with "Bush" type family, and it didn't help me at all for Rand to show disrespect (in their minds) of the Anthem. I don't know wtf they were thinking. It's almost as though he is trying to lose.

Who is actually paying attention to all the developments of the presidential race? A very small, hyper concerned minority. Likely right now, poll numbers are being decided based on the way a candidate plays on talk radio (the largest, most powerful conservative media). If a candidate finds himself on talk radio a lot, he's gonna get a huge boost in his poll numbers.

But by the time election season rolls around, people will start paying more attention, doing their research, and getting a better understanding of who they're voting for. It's around this time that a guy like Trump will collapse like a house of cards (supports abortion, socialized medicine), and Rand will have a chance to walk in and pick up the pieces. He's got the policy positions. He's got the voting record. He's got the substance.

Don't worry about the rise and fall of the numbers week to week. This is like riding on a raft on the ocean, and being concerned that the world is about to be flooded because you just went up a large wave. Pretty soon the wave passes, the raft sinks back down, and now you have time to worry about the precipitous decline in sea level.

I agree with you, the chainsaw video was dumb. Wasn't Rand trying to emulate Reagan? He looked like a trucker off his shift in that black shirt and jeans. And furthermore, let's say Rand does become a political figure that has a significant place in history. Imagine how this video taints his legacy. I mean he's just starting his political career right? This video will be around forever.

Obama just had 2 terms as president, I guess he took your advice and didn't mess with his successful approach, eh?

He's lost 5 points nationally since May, which would constitute half his voting share.

Hmm, so the 5,000-10,000 people that were likely polled for this result are the only people voting and the election will be tomorrow. Wonders never cease.

OP good job on parroting the recent mainstream media attack on Rand. You fell for their shit so hard.

All too true, the gateway to cynicism is treating the words of your enemies as gospel. Granted, I still think that Rand has a massive, uphill battle despite his brilliantly nuanced approach, but turning into a bunch of Debbie Downers will accomplish nothing except for insuring defeat.

Actually, no he's not.

Trump is sucking the oxygen out of the room so few others are getting press coverage. Trump has nowhere to go but down. Rand is smart and is not peaking early.

Rand's combined SPAC and PCC fundraising are actually very good for a candidate that doesn't have billionaire support.

Trump is looking like an amalgamation of every premature peak of a candidate from 2008 and 2012. I don't see him winning a single state out of the early ones, and even if he manages to snatch Iowa away from Walker (which would kill his candidacy), he's going to get pounded into submission either before or immediately after New Hampshire. I remember how the media completely took down Pat Buchanan back in 1996 (granted, for B.S. reasons) and he was heavily favored to take the nomination from Dole. A bull in a china shop candidate never survives a primary, they always elect the likable, nuanced guy in the end.

Another good quote that illustrates the selective short-term memory of some of the "pro-Trump" crowd here. Rand has been VERY confrontational, even more so than Cruz, and I recall him taking a beating for it in the media. There is a time to hit and to hit back, and there is a time to get an assessment of the battlefield before charging in.

Dont be hard on him guys. Whn you look at this forum objectively you will see that most of the threads are like this one. "What should Rand do" or "news say this and that so Rand should do this and that"....

This forum is depressing.

Indeed, I've been trying to take breaks from it just so I don't get tempted to join in on the "poor me" express.
