In 2009, Ron Paul endorsed Lonegan during his run in NJ's gubernatorial primary against Chris Christie, saying he was impressed with Lonegan's budget restraint during his 12 years as Mayor of Bogota, NJ.

Lonegan has fought many battles on behalf of taxpayers. http://www.loneganforsenate.com/about-steve-lonegan/ He has been a guest on John Stossel's show several times, and you may also have seen him speak at last week's tea party in Washington DC. He's been endorsed by NJ Congressmen Leonard Lance and Scott Garret, and State Senator Michael Doherty (who endorsed and accompanied Ron Paul during his visit to the Trenton Statehouse on September 26, 2011.)

Although Lonegan rarely speaks about his personal story, it is an interesting one, referred to in this video.
