I've composed a map of the states for which governors or attorneys general have declared opposition to or criticism of the Biden administration's federal vaccine mandate.

JGeWtJQ.png

Some of the declarations are pretty weak sauce, and it remains to be seen if even the fire-breathing ones are anything more than the bloviations of posturing gas-bags. Of course, the real test will come if the feds win the inevitable court challenges. If that happens, then we'll see who bends the knee, and the wheat (if any) will be separated from the chaff.

Here are the statements or expressions upon which the map is based:

Alabama (Governor): “Once again, President Biden has missed the mark. His outrageous, overreaching mandates will no doubt be challenged in the courts. Placing more burdens on both employers and employees during a pandemic with the rising inflation rates and lingering labor shortages is totally unacceptable. Alabamians have stepped up by rolling up their sleeves to get the covid-19 vaccine, increasing our doses administered significantly in recent weeks. We have done so without mandates from Washington D.C. or Montgomery. I’ve made it abundantly clear: I support the science and encourage folks taking the vaccine. However, I am absolutely against a government mandate on the vaccine, which is why I signed the vaccine passport ban into law here in Alabama. This is not the role of the government. I continue encouraging any Alabamian who can, to get the covid-19 vaccine. We have a safe and effective tool at our fingertips, so, let’s roll up our sleeves and get this thing beat.”

Alaska (Governor): https://twitter.com/GovDunleavy/status/1436138525355753488

Arkansas (Governor): “I fully support continued efforts to increase vaccination rates across our nation, but the federal government mandates on private businesses are not the right answer. I have been consistent in the freedom of businesses to require their employees to be vaccinated, and I have opposed the government from saying businesses cannot exercise that freedom. The same principle should protect private sector from government overreach that requires them to vaccinate all employees.”

Arizona (Governor): “This is exactly the kind of big government overreach we have tried so hard to prevent in Arizona — now the Biden-Harris administration is hammering down on private businesses and individual freedoms in an unprecedented and dangerous way. This will never stand up in court. This dictatorial approach is wrong, un-American and will do far more harm than good. How many workers will be displaced? How many kids kept out of classrooms? How many businesses fined? The vaccine is and should be a choice. We must and will push back.”

Florida (Governor): https://twitter.com/BernieSpofforth/status/1436623044080975874

Georgia (Governor): “I will pursue every legal option available to the state of Georgia to stop this blatantly unlawful overreach by the Biden administration.”

Idaho (Governor): https://twitter.com/kxly4news/status/1436389067248254977

Indiana (Governor): https://twitter.com/DWilliamsTV/status/1436351350389059584

Iowa (Governor): “President Biden is taking dangerous and unprecedented steps to insert the federal government even further into our lives while dismissing the ability of Iowans and Americans to make healthcare decisions for themselves. Biden’s plan will only worsen our workforce shortage and further limit our economic recovery. As I’ve said all along, I believe and trust in Iowans to make the best health decisions for themselves and their families. It’s time for President Biden to do the same. Enough.”

Kansas (Attorney General): “No president has the legal authority to decree a national vaccine mandate or to punish private businesses that refuse to discriminate against employees based on their health status. President Biden yesterday scolded ‘this is not about freedom,’ but the rule of law most certainly is. If the president's overreaching rhetoric becomes federal action, then rest assured we will vigorously challenge it." [source: https://ag.ks.gov/media-center/news...statement-on-proposed-federal-vaccine-mandate]

Kentucky (Attorney General): https://twitter.com/kyoag/status/1436412473553399819

Mississippi (Governor): “The President has no authority to require that Americans inject themselves because of their employment at a private business. The vaccine itself is life-saving, but this unconstitutional move is terrifying. This is still America, and we still believe in freedom from tyrants.”

Louisiana (Attorney General): https://twitter.com/thecentersquare/status/1437528269667119111

Missouri (Governor): “The Biden Administration’s recent announcement seeking to dictate personal freedom and private business decisions is an insult to our American principles of individual liberty and free enterprise. This heavy-handed action by the federal government is unwelcome in our state and has potentially dangerous consequences for working families. Vaccination protects us from serious illness, but the decision to get vaccinated is a private health care decision that should remain as such. My administration will always fight back against federal power grabs and government overreach that threatens to limit our freedoms.”Montana (Governor): “President Biden’s vaccination mandate is unlawful and un-American. We are committed to protecting Montanans’ freedoms and liberties against this gross federal overreach.”

Nebraska (Governor): https://twitter.com/SKMorefield/status/1436153861681647616

New Hampshire (Governor): https://twitter.com/KlandriganUL/status/1437509335156932609

North Dakota (Governor): https://twitter.com/jeremyjturley/status/1436371151283003396

Ohio (Governor): https://twitter.com/KDKA/status/1436449471064387589

Oklahoma (Governor): “It is not the government’s role to dictate to private businesses what to do. Once again President Biden is demonstrating his complete disregard for individual freedoms and states’ rights. As long as I am governor, there will be no government vaccine mandates in Oklahoma. My administration will continue to defend Oklahoma values and fight back against the Biden administration’s federal overreach.”

South Carolina (Governor): “The American Dream has turned into a nightmare under President Biden and the radical Democrats. They have declared war against capitalism, thumbed their noses at the Constitution, and empowered our enemies abroad. Rest assured, we will fight them to the gates of hell to protect the liberty and livelihood of every South Carolinian.”

South Dakota (Governor): “My legal team is standing by ready to file our lawsuit the minute @Joebiden files his unconstitutional rule. This gross example of federal intrusion will not stand.”

Tennessee (Governor): https://twitter.com/FOXNashville/status/1436148671490502660

Texas (Governor): “Biden’s vaccine mandate is an assault on private businesses. I issued an Executive Order protecting Texans’ right to choose whether they get the COVID vaccine & added it to the special session agenda. Texas is already working to halt this power grab.”

Utah (Attorney General): https://twitter.com/abc4utah/status/1436146611965542403

West Virginia (Attorney General): https://twitter.com/MorriseyWV/status/1436144571570872322

If anyone knows of any states that should be added, post them here and I will try to get them added to the map and the OP.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky's attorney general says he believes the vaccine mandates announced by President Biden Thursday night may be unconstitutional.

Daniel Cameron tweeted his view late Friday afternoon.

"Yesterday, President Biden announced policies that will directly encroach upon the prerogatives of countless businesses, employers and employees," Cameron said, in a statement. "I don't think our Constitution permits it.

"In the coming days our courts will have to determine whether his actions can stand. This office will be a part of those discussions."

That purple area is getting to look like one hell of a fine country, and well able to starve out just about any nation that cops an attitude about doing business with it.

I expect something from New Hampshire, considering this happened a month ago:

While Massachusetts debates vaccine and mask mandates, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu signed a bill into law last week that supporters say establishes "medical freedom." Residents in the state who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 can still access public facilities and services, under the new law. The law states that all residents have the “natural, essential and inherent right to bodily integrity, free from any threat or compulsion by government to accept an immunization.”

By the way, Occam's Banana, you forgot to purplize Alaska.

Not a state, but interesting provincial news nonetheless.

Alberta will not be following the lead of Quebec and Manitoba on vaccine passports, says Premier Jason Kenney.

Quebec intends to bring in the passports, beginning in September, for anyone wanting to visit non-essential businesses in parts of the province where the COVID-19 rate is high.

Manitoba has been issuing proof-of-immunization cards to residents who are two weeks past their second shot.

"We've been very clear from the beginning that we will not facilitate or accept vaccine passports," Kenney told reporters at the annual premier's Calgary Stampede pancake breakfast on Monday.

"I believe they would in principle contravene the Health Information Act and also possibly the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act."

Kenney, right, flips a pancake at the breakfast. The Stampede, which runs until July 18, is being watched closely as one of the first mass events in Canada since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Alberta was the first province to relax nearly all of its public health measures on July 1. (Jeff McIntosh/The Canadian Press)

Kenney replied "yes" when asked whether Alberta would speak up if the federal government attempted to bring in the passports.

He noted that Alberta also amended its Public Health Act to remove a 100-year-old power allowing the government to force people to be inoculated.

"These folks who are concerned about mandatory vaccines have nothing to be concerned about," he said.

In the Northwest Territories, residents can request their vaccination records, but the territory says it will not create a vaccine passport system.

Alaska could wind up contiguous. Suppose CO and NM will be joining old Mexico?

Nunavut is dragging its feet on "passports". Anti Federalist New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are dragging their feet too.

Added Kentucky

By the way, @Occam's Banana, yo forgot to purplize Alaska.

Ack! Fixed now. Thank you. (I'm using mapchart.net, and before I discovered I could save and reupload the map state, I had to completely recreate it every time I updated it. Alaska must have slipped through the cracks one of those times.)

I expect something from New Hampshire, considering this happened a month ago:

So do I. But this is the most I've been able to find so far:

FTA: New Hampshire leaders split over Biden's vaccine mandate
"Yesterday’s actions by the Biden Administration are another example of saying one thing, then doing another and creating instability and mistrust at a time when the American people need serious leadership,” Republican Gov. Chris Sununu said in a statement.

Sununu said he was particularly concerned about the impact of the mandate on the state health care system, which is already suffering from a lack of workers.

That's certainly not a statement of opposition. And it's barely even one of (mild) criticism.

So I'm going to hold off on adding New Hampshire until Sununu gets his rhetorical shit together or the NH AG steps up.

Looks like Louisiana will need to replace their governor to make any progress on this.

The battle over vaccine mandates is just the latest example of how politics has shaped — even dominated — Louisiana’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“This is about discrimination,” said Rep. Kathy Edmonston of Ascension Parish and author of HB 498.

The measure would prohibit government agencies and officials from distinguishing between people based on whether they’ve been vaccinated against any virus, not just SARS-CoV-2, the strain of the coronavirus that causes the disease COVID-19. The only exceptions are those vaccinations already required by law.

Governors and legislators in over a dozen other states are pushing similar bans. They’re part of a movement that sees the push for COVID-19 vaccinations as an affront to individual rights.

Edmonston, a Republican, said she’d heard from students and employees who didn’t want to be vaccinated and didn’t want to lose out on jobs or school opportunities as a result.

Louisiana as a whole is the second-least vaccinated state in the nation. And in Edmonston’s district, Ascension Parish, vaccination rates lag even below the state average.

Edmonston said she did not feel a responsibility to help boost vaccine uptake in the state.

“That's not a goal of mine. No, ma'am,” she said. “The goal that I have is to — that's why I brought forward the legislation — prohibit discrimination based on vaccine or immunity status. That's my number one goal.”

It passed, but was vetoed.

Most of those were pretty weak, but a few really made me smile.

Thanks, South Carolina. South Dakota. Mississippi. Oklahoma.

(BTW, thanks for doing this! You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Occam's Banana again.)

Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota and West Virginia unleashed some pretty hot rhetoric, too.

Covered, though he deserves more.

Yes sir, that purple blob, and maybe a slice of western Canada to boot, would make one hell of a fine nation.

And has enough nukes in silos to nip the civil war in the bud, too.

Yeah, I briefly - very briefly - considered using two colors, one for weak statements and one for strong.

But I immediately realized that that way madness lies ...

It'd be great if U.S. companies simply said no.
The overwhelming majority will not because they were literally hijacked by the Commie LGBTQXYZBLM groups and will bow to any pressure from them and from the Fed gov't.

We are beyond the point of debate and argument with those who are pro-vaccine/pro-mask/pro-fear, by the way.
Target friends and family who are on the fence or lean towards us to pull them in. We need numbers at this point, I think. And good attorneys.

"States opposed?"

IL gov pritzker would huff a kielbasa if biden asked him to, but the IL law actually opposes this mandate.

There is legal precedent in Rojas v Martell, through the IL "Health Care Right of Conscience Act". So even though the IL politicians approve of the mandate, the law may put Illinois residents who are against the so called vaccine, in a conveniently defensible position. People need to seek legal counsel, and start litigating.

https://reason.com/volokh/2020/03/1...d-birth-control-and-abortion-referral-duties/

"It shall be unlawful for any person, public or private institution, or public official to discriminate against any person in any manner, including but not limited to, licensing, hiring, promotion, transfer, staff appointment, hospital, managed care entity, or any other privileges, because of such person's conscientious refusal to receive, obtain, accept, perform, assist, counsel, suggest, recommend, refer or participate in any way in any particular form of health care services contrary to his or her conscience."

There are more cases materializing using the precedent of Rojas v Martell, and the IL HCRCA

For some who claim that the FDA can override state law, this is not what the federal law states :

This is the last stand for biden and big pharma. The narrative is catching up with them, so they are forced to throw this "Hail Mary", before the facts catch up with the controlled narrative they've been feeding the masses.

Red State Rebellion! Majority Of US Governors Say NO! To Biden Vax Mandate

Wouldn't it be something if Newsom gets recalled and California can join the list?

Odds are long, as the Democrats have rigged the elections via flooding the state with ballots and allowing ballot harvesting (no additional cheating necessary, but don't put it past Democrat operatives who believe that cheating is justified to achieve their socialist agenda).
