Graham depends upon the ignorance of voters...

(CNN) -- Five states from Maine to Nevada hold primaries on Tuesday, but the marquee race is in South Carolina, where two-term GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham is hoping to avoid a runoff.

The Palmetto State showdown comes as fellow Republican Sen. Thad Cochran is fighting for his political life in Mississippi. Last week, he was forced into a runoff against a challenger backed by the tea party.

But for Graham, any comparison with Cochran is short lived even though many tea party activists and other grassroots conservatives in South Carolina despise him and other local organizations in the state have censured him in recent years.

Graham's opponents are divided and getting little help from powerful anti-establishment outside groups.

Graham spending a lot...

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham has never had to fight with a fellow Republican for his Senate seat. Now, he is battling tooth and claw to ward off six cheeky challengers in today’s primary.

The two-term senator has already spent $8.5 million in the 2014 race, outflanking all his Republican contenders, who together have barely spent $2 million. That’s a lot by his standards: No Democratic opponent in a Senate race has ever cost him so much.

He’s also been backed by a heavy influx of cash from outside groups, which have dumped $476,000 into the race, seven times more than they did during his 2008 re-election bid. That includes a hefty $180,000 from West Main Streets Value, a single-purpose super PAC created to defend Graham. The group has received a $25,000 donation from billionaire John Catsimatidis through his United Refining Company, as reported by the Center for Public Integrity.

Here's hoping Grahamnesty goes down in flames and the GOP voters of SC redeem themselves. It will take a lot to redeem themselves from the hypocrisy of being Christians booing the golden rule, but sending Graham into retirement will be a great start!

i'll eat a box of graham crackers if that bastard loses.

With multiple campaigns mobilizing voters, I think anti-Graham turnout should be improved due to that fact. Collectively, his challengers have actually raised a good sum of money.

If any significant amount of voters saw the debate, it wasn't good for Graham at all.

only 2 Democrats, one boldly up from the state legislature? a lonesome but equally bold Libertarian?
Senator Lindsey Graham did and does have a raft of sincere GOP challengers, is his hold weakening?

Graham said "we have lost seats because these tea party people can't win the general elections, and I will smash the Democrat". Yea you will, and it won't be any difference than a Democrat winning.

Miss Lindsey is the only campaign in debt, and she is in debt to the tune of half a million dollars. That's one hell of a 'conservative' you got there, SC. More fiscally liberal than even the democrats in the race. SMDH.

the five top GOP contenders have happily averaged loosely $500,ooo.oo apiece but Senator Lindsey slung in against each of
them with a rough dirty cool million outlay per major contender. am sore tempted to lump Dunn in with the two Democrats
and the Libertarian in that all four contenders clearly have one large "wish list" and intense odds adversely before them.
don't know much about Cash or Connors or Bowers, but I do indeed hope that Bright or Mace are happily on the fall ballot.
i am very open to an "Anybody But Lindsey" pitch because a newbie is preferable at this point in time, including our Libertarian.

only two GOP people have spent a half million against him.
some of the campaigns are sitting on their "kitty" a tad. its
looking like the Democrats are hoping to luck in, each has
raised less than $100,ooo.oo and the more "pro" contender
took in about 62 grand and then spent it happily. the debt
of a half million is greater than the cash on hand for at least
seven of his challengers, let alone what they are indeed spending.
