I had a beach house in Duck a few years back..Nice nice area- as for bars try the oceanfront Holiday Inn Nags Head. Take a drive up to Duck Corolla. Surreal beautiful. The real estate will blow you away. Wish I had kept the house but moved to British Columbia-Wife is Canadian Kids half..

Oh yeah, OBX is the best! Going there at the beginning of September is great, the tourist season is just over and the weather is (typically) awesome! never been there in Dec. tho. Enjoy your time there, hope you can see the blimp, I'm outrageously jealous right now! lol

You have to visit the lighthouse and maybe take some hang gliding lessons at Kitty Hawk or at least watch them on the dunes. You can also drive on the beach and fish.
