Smoke and flames poured from underground sewers in Porter Ranch, California, as residents were evacuated in the face of the advancing Saddleridge fire.
In this video, taken on Friday, October 11, as the out-of-control fires approached the San Fernando Valley neighbourhood, fire could be seen coming from the drains and manholes in a retail center parking lot.

What could possibly be burning down in the sewer?

They use that black plastic PVC type shit in sewers nowadays, that maybe? That'll be a fun and expensive fix.

ETA: It is California, so there's probably some near extinct rare shit eating nymph that lives in the sewers there as well, so the environmentalists got some law passed that they couldn't do proper maintenance in the sewers anymore because it's dangerous to the poop nymphs, so all the debris is burning?

That's what I figgered as well...the three assed sewer snake's habitat was in danger from cleaning sludge.

Watched video - not a sewer, that's storm drain.

Dry leaves and what not on fire, or it could be sucking heat, smoke and flames from whatever nearby dry gulch is on fire where it drains into.

Think: giant rocket stove.
