Smart Growth / Agenda 21 needs to be a campaign issue

The left is trying to sell "smart growth" to cities and being successful at it. Basically, they are trying to push rural people into the cities in the name of global warming and protecting the environment. They are doing this through regulations on water, sewer, etc. Supposedly it's more "cost effective" for the state to "manage" the population if they are all in cities.

Consider that the rural population is more conservative and how this would change elections.
Consider an end of the family farm - that is going to REALLY piss off farmers!
The Grinch has come out in favor of Agenda 21 and FOX is starting to cover it, so it's going mainstream.

PlanMaryland was covered on FOX tonight, but many other states are moving in this direction. Google "smart growth" to find out more.

This should not be a national issue.

Ron Paul's only three issue's should be economy, economy, jobs.

Agenda 21 is a good local and state issue: Check out Chuck Baldwin's Lt. Governor race in Montana

Absolutely not. 99.99% of Americans have no clue what Agenda 21 is. I didn't even know until I came here and learned about it. Even if Ron Paul explained it, most people would never believe it. As gerryb said, he needs to stick to the economy, plus foreign policy.

the US falling under a UN mandate has everything to do with foreign policy and national sovereignty. Besides the Grinch made it an issue by saying he was in favor of it. That would mean the federal gvmt shoving it down the states throats.

If Paul called him on it in an upcoming debate, the whole country would get an education the next day as the media would be all over it. It's allready being covered on FOX - so why not?

When did Gingrich say he was in favor of Agenda 21? Is this something recent, or something he has changed his position on.

I know that if Gingrich is in favor of Agenda 21, I would have a great talking point to conservatives. I'm not sure how much the average person is aware of it, but no LRPV are in favor it, so it might be over their heads, but no one would disagree.

Is "the Grinch" Gingrich? Because it appears he's against Agenda 21. But if you have something else, that's great.

yes and it appears I got it backwards - as did some newscasters, hence my confusion. in this case, Paul agrees with him as he's also against UN control of us and gvmt restrictions on where people can live certainly is an infringement on liberty.

good find on the link.

things like this are a problem for states rights. I would think the BoR would trump a UN agenda, but that would go courtbound aqnd be as messy as Obamacare. Problem is that people need to know it's happening before they will rise up to oppose it.

yeah Agenda 21 is bad news.

Basically it's being pushed by the environmentalists "wouldn't it be great if huge sections of the US were wild nature?" "not really, I'm not sure how that benefits anyone at all, except whoever wants to corral people."

Keep an eye out for Land Trusts.

It might be time to start asking whether or not non-profits should pay property taxes. And which types should and shouldn't pay those taxes.
