It appears that Hawaii is an important state -- a place where we can both pick up delegates AND have a chance to score a victory in the public straw vote. If it's important enough to send Ronnie Paul and John Tate to campaign there, it should be important enough to send Ron Paul himself there.
There's an excellent article recently published that outlines Hawaii customs and the system of elders that have influence local opinion. It seems that personal relations and respect are very important in Hawaii, and Dr. Paul could hold a few small town hall events in Hawaii, as well as schedule to meet with the elders personally, it would send nice shockwaves through the system that Dr. Paul is serious about vying for the Hawaii vote.
Santorum has been camping out in various states and working them through small town halls. I strongly believe Dr. Paul should take an opportunity to try this out in Hawaii. Dr. Paul is holding rallies in MO and KS, but working Hawaii could potentially be a more realistic calculated risk than either MO or KS.
Today was a good day, and over $100K was raised. Do you believe as I do that it would be a good use of that money to send Dr. Paul personally to Hawaii for more than 1 day, so he could spend a little time in Hawaii, meet with the elders, hold small town halls, and do some retail style campaigning?
I really want to get this out to Doug Wead, if anyone has a direct line to him. This could be very very important.
