- Actual budgets, as Scott Walker signed them:
FY11: $31,705,633,900
FY12: $32,396,034,000
FY13: $33,644,919,500

- “I think we need to have an aggressive strategy anywhere around the world,” Walker said. “I think anywhere and everywhere, we have to go beyond just aggressive air strikes,” said Walker. “We have to look at other surgical methods. And ultimately we have to be prepared to put boots on the ground if that’s what it takes.”

- Sean Dinces, an associate professor at UW and expert on stadium financing:
“Walker is attempting to make it sound like using the tax money is a “no cost” approach for the public,” Dinces said. “This is not the case, there is an obvious “opportunity cost” involved in diverting increases in tax revenue away from public goods like education (or, alternatively, increasing tax rates in order to maintain or increase spending in those areas).”
“Another way to think about this ... is that essentially Walker and company are agreeing to burden the state (i.e. taxpayers) with a sizeable amount of the investment risk in the new arena. In other words, the public bears much (if not most) of the risk, while the team keeps all of the profits.” Walker is giving the Bucks $220 million.

- Scott Walker effectively killed Right to Work legislation in his state by urging state senate Republican leaders to pull the bill. Gov. Walker repeated his assertion that he’s not out to destroy unions, saying “the unions that offer value will continue to see members,” both in the public and private sector. http://fox6now.com/2013/07/29/gov-walker-opens-door-to-act-1...
- In response to Governor Walker’s demand for an accountability bill, the Assembly and the Senate each fast-track measures. Strikingly, accountability bills AB 1 and SB 1 are the first bills introduced for the new legislative session in their respective chambers. Both plans contain numerous troubling components, including the use of SBAC assessments as the primary accountability measure.
- Scott Walker: Sitting on the Common Core Fence - Neither Governor Walker nor those authoring and cosponsoring the bills appear to understand the enforcement role of SBAC in the Common Core scheme – or do they? Leveraging SBAC for accountability only further entrenches Common Core in Wisconsin, ensuring that local school districts will have difficulty switching to a different standard even once full implementation of Common Core starts to go wrong. Walker also seems unconcerned that SBAC assessments have not been properly validated, making them a deeply unethical experiment on children, teachers, schools, and districts – an experiment with serious consequences. http://stevedeace.com/news/governor-scott-walker-sitting-com...
