Russia may decide it has to end Ukraine as a country

Russia is going to have to take over the whole Ukraine and disband it as a nation if it wants security. I believe it will go hard and lock down the entire country for existential reasons, and all the Ukrainians who don't like that will be dead or in Poland. The heavy bombers will be flying soon. They have no other choice.

That isn't what Putin has been saying at all. In fact it's the opposite and so far the Russians have done exactly what they claimed they were going to do. Degrade the Ukrainian military, eliminate the neo nazi formations, keep Ukraine out of NATO and secure Crimea and Donbass. Russia has specifically said they do not want to conquer the whole of Ukraine and why would they? Controlling a hositle population is not in the interest of Russia.

The scenario is pure fantasy.
but there is a lot of that going around..

You would be amazed at the amount of people that think the Ukraine actually has a chance of Defeating Russia.
Some believe it is winning Now.. and that Russia is on the run..
Propaganda is like that.

I do think Zelensky at some point will yield on this. Any rational person would. But he may not be rational, and he is sitting in the comforts and safety of Poland.

My opinion is it will end soon enough with a settlement on Russia's terms. Once what is left of the Ukranian military is completly defeated and Russia has air superiority it will be over fast. At that point the Russians can just watch the borders on sattellite or from the air for incoming western resupply convoys and eliminate them. Russia has shown they have no interest in fighting an urban guerilla war, they pulled back from the capital.

In the past, sanity has generally prevailed eventually. In the present, however, I see no signs of sanity anywhere in or near Washington, D.C.

The only bets I'm making at this point are on the worst case scenario.

Zelenskyy (CNN spelling), in case you haven't noticed, is ignoring Russian peace branches because he wants to WIN. He is taking all and every piece of military aid that the U.S. and NATO will give him... lethal aid that attacks tanks, planes and troops. He wants fighter jets, nukes and whatever he can get. He wants Mariupol and Donbass and Lugansk. He wants to stay in power and arm the country into another Israel where ethnic Russians are treated like Palestinians. He wants all the biowarfare labs of Hunter Biden and the Pentagon. He wants Chernobyl. He wants ABMs and hypersonic missles. Finally, he didn't even agree to permanently accept Crimea as Russian. Russia treated Ukraine with kid gloves and paid for it in their own troops casualties when it was militarily unnecessary. Russia pulled back battallions to show good intentions before talks... talks that Zelensky peed all over.

Poland wants nukes. I ask if you are familiar with the Russian demands that weren't met which started all this - they do not yet have them unless they want a protracted war that like Gen. Milley said can go on for years... well - remember Russia said many times it did not want to invade Ukraine -- and it did not want to. Now Russia will say it doesn't want to occupy Ukraine -- but it will do it... and Ukrainians who don't like that can get shot dead or go to Poland or the U.S. and Canada, because Ukraine won't be a country at all much longer. Putin will order a real offensive that will obliterate all who resist. He will take all of it and issue an ultimatum of nuclear war to NATO. India and China have already told NATO and the US to F OFF.

It depends upon your definition of “winning”. To Zelenskyy and the western media, “winning” is like your neighbor coming to your house, killing a couple of your family members, and then blowing up your house, and when they leave, you declare yourself the “winner”.

Lavrov said the US and UK heavy military aid will basically end peace talks.

He also said Zelensky backed off from his concessions.

I don't think the Ukrainians are actually represented by Zelensky at all. He is at a US base in Poland.

This is a proxy war on Russia's border they will not lose, not by taking it easy anymore.
