Story Highlights• South Carolina treasurer Ravel indicted on federal drug charges Tuesday
• Republican charged with distributing cocaine starting in 2005
• Ravel also survived as Rudy Giuliani presidential state campaign chair

COLUMBIA, South Carolina (AP) -- South Carolina Treasurer Thomas Ravenel, a former real estate developer who became a rising political star after his election last year, was indicted Tuesday on federal cocaine charges.

Thomas Ravenel is also the state chairman for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign.

Ravenel and another man were accused of distributing less than 500 grams of the drug starting in late 2005.

Ravenel started his political career in 2004, funding his own campaign for a U.S. Senate seat. He finished a close third in the Republican primary.

Ravenel was founder of the Ravenel Development Corp., a commercial real estate development company. His father, Arthur Ravenel Jr., was a powerful politician from Charleston who served eight years in the U.S. House and is a former state representative and state senator.

Karma Baby Karma!

I think the GOP party already knows people aren't buying that pig even with all the lipstick. Him leading in the supposed scientific polls is nothing more than an illusion. I think that's why they are trotting out and building up Fred Thompson these days...which I think is another illusion they are just trying to sell to the masses.

Absolutely right, PatriotOne! Would be nice to have a summary of all the lies and masquerade going on in Rudy's and FT's campaigns.

Where can we find out where their campaign money comes from? We need to dig deep in that dirt...

What I'm shocked at most is that "Julie Annie's" Gestapo didn't sniff this guy out before he joined the campaign. :p :D
