Ron Paul may have come in fourth in Florida, but that was the plan all along. He's been focusing instead on a surge in Nevada and Maine, and on stacking up delegates to help him have a huge influence on the GOP convention, which his campaign manager says is the goal, as it could be the best way to getting Paul into office. So let's celebrate instead! More good info on this topic below:

"In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Benton said the goal of the campaign is 'to have a sizable chunk of delegates, enough to influence the platform and stop these big-government conservatives.'

:(

I hope this is another case of selective quotation.

Yes, it is. Jesse said the plan was to win but was asked about if Ron wanted to influence as a backup plan and answered that too. Unless this is a different interview. The quote sounds like it is from that but note where the quotation marks are. AFTER they say it is 'the goal'. Ron has been all over Maine saying he wants to win, and Jesse said we have a plan to win, and they are always also asked about influencing the platform. Media is going to keep doing this. REmember all those stories about how Ron had DROPPED OUT in 2008 when he hadn't? Before the March 4 primaries? That weren't corrected until AFTER the primaries?

Which is why when asked about their plans, Jesse and everybody needs to just say "Our plan is to win, nothing else". And when asked about the backup plan if they don't win, they should reply: "The only thing we are focused on is winning".

Real simple. Instead of always haven't to explain after the fact how "misquoted" they were.

It's just ridiculous man and they keep falling for it again, and again, and again.
