Ron Paul vs. Rand Paul

Could you explain to me, in depth, the difference between Ron Paul and Rand Paul? On what issues do they agree and on what issues do they disagree?

Is Rand Paul an exact copy of his father? Can Rand Paul take over from his father in the future? Can he win the Republican Party leadership and win the presidency?

I can't. I don't know enough but here's a HuffPo post:

One commentor even equated Rand to a male Sarah Palin, not sure how accurate that is but that is the surface difference I guess.

Rand is more of a Tea Party candidate. Ron more directly connected to his interpretation of the constitution.

Rand has views closer to Obama's 1st run in referring to the war. Ron does not only want to stop the war but wants to bring all troops home to save on things like Healthcare and Social Security as well as to increase National Defense.

Can Rand take over from his father? In a sense, he already did. He has the brand of Ron Paul. He doesn't have as extreme views yet all the things that make general Tea Party followers want to support him are there. Those are all things that, even though it may not help him win the presidency, would allow him to be treated more fairly by the media and would give less ammo for Ron Paul critics to call him a loony, an isolationist, a Bircher, a paleo-conservative, etc. He also has the benefit that the media villifies Ron Paul so the mantra that Rand Paul is not exactly Ron Paul would not have as powerful negative propaganda as it has.

Rand Paul differs from his father in that he supports sanctions against Iran, and also supports a federal amendment to ban gay marriage, whereas Ron Paul opposes both. Rand is a bit less libertarian than his father is, and is a bit more right leaning. Rand may differ from Ron on other issues, but if so, I don't know what they are at this time.

In visual terms:

I read that Rand thought the states should handle marriage issues?

I really can't see Rand supporting a federal ban on gay marriage. I may be wrong though.
