Ron Paul: No John McCain endorsement

Wow. Now we get some fair coverage. I guess they're not that worried about our little campaign any more.

Paul said Monday – as he told supporters last Friday – that for the next month he'll decrease his focus on the presidential race to concentrate on keeping his congressional seat in Texas' 14th District, where he faces a Republican primary challenger on March 4.

I just had a thought, what happens if he fails to keep his congressional seat... it will be seen as a National rejection of the whole movement... what are the polls like in his district?

Remember the old 'the mainstream media is liberal' stuff? Well if the liberal mainstream media can use RP to make down McCain so Sister Hillary or Brother Obama can win they will use RP.

Tory - it's the other way around.. they're propping up McCain because they feel (rightfully) that Obama or Hillary can beat McCain. He has an incredible number of skeletons in his closet and the media is waiting to open that door and bring him down hard. The Democrats will have a field day with his war-mongering stance on Iraq.

Also.... After reading that article it's clear to me that the "zero chance" letter on the home page of the campaign web site (yeah.. the one that was sent out the eve of three primaries and caused some people to stay home in disgust rather than go caucus) was not written by Paul. That is troubling in itself.

That letter felt funny to me, too. But why, oh why, does Dr. Paul let these letters go out? The man reads everything that comes across his desk as a congressman - why does this keep happening? That letter felt like sabotage.

Doesn't Ron Paul have time to at least read what is going to be posted live on his presidential website? This doesn't make sense. The newsletters I can buy, but this? wtf?

I guess that letter had to go out, but a few days before, our meetup group was all fired up with new members and everything on that Romney news. We felt like we had reached a turning point. I had plans to work that weekend on campaign stuff until I read the letter. I suppose it's good that they were up front with their plans, but it really did cut the movement down, just when we were on the verge of being able to capitalize on the McCain disaffection. Even if we couldn't have won, we could have forced the Republican party to seriously look within.

i don't understand something with this whole deal with the letter. i took it that it was talking about a brokered convention, not the campaign its self. yes, i think the wording and timeing was bad. i read it as saying, ok , the chances of a brokered convention are slim so we need to focus on getting more delagetes. , the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get.
