Looks like he will be doing all the planning, so as far as finding bands, speakers, etc., there's no need for us to do so.

I guess he will be giving a speech then! This will be huge.

I hope he plans it for Memorial Day weekend. July 4th will be way too busy for us to stand out.

I hope somewhere in between.

Flag Day?!? Something that doesn't have much coverage of anything!!

he's picking a date and a location... and HE'S HOPING THE RESPONSE FROM OTHERS WILL BE THE SAME...

UH.. hello. we are the others. and we're responding.

Thank you. :( I am having one helluva time trying to figure out why anyone would prefer HQ to do this. I thought Ron Paul people were against interference by government types. I mean, isn't HQ sort of a microcosm of what RPs administration would be?

Look at the amount of money the grassroots has raised for him?
If Trevor Lyman can do this, so can we...

It's much more manageable to have HQ do it. Besides they have the money.

How so? They should be focusing on ads comparing RP to McCain. Besides, this was a grassroots idea and it is intended to promote his message and the movement not just the man.

HQ has proven itself to not be very competent. Haven't you ever notice the never-ending negative threads from people's personal experiences with them?

We can raise the money. It wasn't HQ that handled the money bombs. We are already in the planning stages of this including putting a planning committee together.

This is a grassroots idea. It should stay with the grassroots. How proud Ron Paul would be if we are able to show him and the nation first hand how clever and talented and industrious we are.

Deborah,
You are probably right. It would be more authentic is grassroots did it. But it wasn't a grassroots idea. It was RP gently nudging it into our heads.

Because an event such as this needs to be well planned and all precautionary measures need to be taken to prevent it from being a disaster.

I attended the Lake Jackson rally on Feb 10th. It was really well done. I had a great time I volunteered my time to help with the free concessions and I also took all of the official photographs. There was a great showing of people. I left that rally with alot of hope because Ron in person is a great man. For me the message has a part to play but in my eyes the country has to have a man like Ron Paul at the helm to keep things as they should be.

I have very little faith that any protest march that a group of supporters put together with the pretense of making a stand would be anything short of a disaster.

"So your basicly saying that we should take our marching orders from Al Queda?"

"NO! Im saying we should take our marching orders from RON PAUL."

Then I guess you won't be volunteering.

Why doesn't everybody just wait a day or two to see what RP reports back to us. He's obviously very excited about this and looking into the logistics. If RP decides to organize this I trust that he will make sure that this gets done right.

If he asks the grassroots to organize I would hope that we have full transparency in regards to committee selection and accounting. Mis-management of funds is a major problem when it comes to events like this, and the expected size/amount of donations for this march just adds to the likelihood of that happening.

Anyway for now, can we please stop posting "official" dates, sites, bands, etc., I think its just adding to the confusion.

btw, I still don't think that he's totally sold on the idea yet.

Oh no, the campaign almost ruined the Philly Rally. All we need from them is a date,

I cringe every time I hear July 4th as a possible date. DC is a MADHOUSE already on the 4th. Road closures all over, hours upon hours of waiting on the Metro (subway), mountains of people (probably many that DO NOT LIKE US), etc. That would be the worst day possible to plan the march/rally.

So people who don't want Ron doing any planning are basically giving him a big "fuck off"?

Talk about the "me, me, me" generation. Wouldn't it be better, since it's a march for Ron Paul, to let him plan his own march? We don't need to be greedy about this. If he wants to plan it, my God, let him plan it.
