LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul endorsed today Minnesota State Rep. Kurt Bills, candidate for U.S. Senate. Rep. Bills, an advanced economics professor who eschews the label of career politician, is a family man, wrestling coach, involved community member, and man of integrity.

Hey mods - can we move this to 2012 candidates??

Here's the breakdown of the MN Senate race:

Amy Klobuchar (DFL)* - (Campaign Site)
Dick Franson (DFL) - Ex-Minneapolis Alderman, Retired Appraiser, Vietnam War Veteran & Frequent Candidate
Jack "Doc" Shepard (DFL) - Dentist, Fugitive Felon Living in Italy, USAF Veteran & Frequent Candidate
Joe Arwood (R) - St. Bonifacius City Councilman & Advertising Consultant
Kurt Bills (R) - State Rep., Daycare Center Owner & Ron Paul Campaign Activist
Pete Hegseth (R) - Afghan War Veteran & Conservative Activist
Anthony Hernandez (R) - Mortgage Broker & '10 State Sen. Nominee
Dan "Doc" Severson (R) - Ex-State Rep., Businessman, Navy Veteran & '10 Sec. of State Nominee

The race looks like a pickup as the state swings and she won in 06 when Dems could win any race they wanted. The (R) primary field looks pretty good too. I have no data on polling, but it seems from web site quality alone that Severson and Hegseth are going to be his main problems.

this is an announcement of Ron's endorsement, so it goes here. He may end up getting his own subforum depending on how much support he has, but that is yet to be seen. Meanwhile those who support RON need to know about the endorsement.

I don't mean giving him a subforum, I just mean moving a thread about a 2012 candidate to the section labeled 2012 candidates. But hey, you're the mod, you say it belongs here, so that's that.

People wouldn't see it there unless they were looking for other 2012 candidates, and this might spur the interest in the first instance.

AFAIK the delegates at the state convention May 18 & 19 will vote to endorse one of the candidates, hopefully he will have enough support from RP delegates at the state convention to wrap it up.

Unfortunately Klobuchar polls extremely high, so it will be an uphill battle to get him elected assuming he does get the endorsement.

Kurt Bills Picks Up Ron Paul Endorsement for U.S. Senate Bid

State Rep. Kurt Bills (R-Rosemount) has picked up a high-profile endorsement in his announced bid to run against Democrat U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar in the November elections.

Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul has endorsed the Rosemount Republican according to a report in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

“I am proud to wholeheartedly endorse Kurt Bills for United States Senate and hope all of my friends and supporters will help him go all the way to Washington,” Paul was quoted as saying in the report.

Bills had previously endorsed Paul prior to the Minnesota Caucuses in February and introduced the charismatic politician during a campaign event at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

As someone else mentioned, Klobuchar polls very high in MN and with this being a Presidential election year the DFLers will turn out in droves in Minnesota. It will be VERY difficult to unseat a Democratic incumbant in Minnesota this year. However; anything is possible. The first test will be the battle for the endorsement. Bills will benefit greatly from having so many Ron Paul supporters at the state convention. If he gets the endorsement I wouldn't be surprised if there is a primary fight among one of the announced candidates or an establishment-picked candidate yet to be determined.

I was not aware of Kurt Bills. Since I am from Minnesota and Ron Paul is endorsing I went and donated to Kurt Bills for US Senate. From the video I saw that was posted earlier he looks to be a great candidate.

While I sympathize, I think that its a circular problem to place things in grassroots central simply for the traffic because it just encourages the problem of grassroots central serving more as a lobby and less as a sub-forum.

I posted Matt's duplicate thread there. But people who go to him BECAUSE Ron is endorsing would likely see it here first, and it is part of RON PAUL's actions.

Hegseth will probably pick up a lot of Santorum people (thank goodness there aren't that many left). Severson most likely has the support of the establishment although I can not stress enough that he is not the enemy.

Great! Just received the email from the Paul campaign about the endoresment. I am new to Bills. Hope he wins. We need MMOOOORRR liberty candidates!

I will add him to Liberty candidates United later this evening.

Anyone know of a full list of candidates that Ron endorses?
