Ron Paul Channel — What a Blast!

By Daniel McAdams, Director of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity

Yesterday’s launch of the Ron Paul Channel was everything I hoped it would be! It was funny, inspiring, informative, and most of all it was unique. It was really the Ron Paul show.

Without a doubt in that short half hour he covered more topics than a month’s worth of mainstream media newscasts, which are nothing but fluff anyway. Drones, Yemen, the drug war, Snowden, a Glenn Greenwald interview — it was almost dizzying!

OK, I will admit I am biased. I have worked for Dr. Paul for more than a decade so it’s no surprise I am enthusiastic about this new venture. But as fun — and triumphant — as it was to see him deliver a statement or speech on the House Floor or even speak at a high-energy political rally, this is nothing like we have seen before. It is a whole new horizon not just for him, but for everyone interested in spreading the ideas of peace and liberty.

For most of us, the mainstream media — be it print or broadcast — just does not work. We struggle to get informed and keep informed and it is mind-numbing to watch and read the dumbed-down pablum fed to the masses. Like me, millions are just turning it all off. So this was made for us.

Infuriatingly, we have seen some whining from what Tom Woods so aptly calls the libertarian moochers over the fact that there is a subscription fee to access the Ron Paul Channel. Do people think that television studios and equipment and producers and researchers, etc. grow on trees? That a news source not beholden to the usual military industrial complex related big advertisers should be sustained by pixie dust somehow? The idea that paying the equivalent of one six-pack of beer — two McValue meals — per month to enjoy and support this unique and valuable venture is just too outrageous? Really? It should be free?

Thankfully this is a loud but tiny minority.

Like me, I am sure most LRC readers are charter subscribers, but those who are not do not know what they are missing. Subscribing is really easy, too. Don’t miss an episode! (And tell a friend).

It's $.83 cents per episode. That's outrageous! Damn the liberty movement to hell. /s

Hopefully someone informs Dr. Paul of the youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRonPaulChannel1 so he can have the content taken down. I actually have no problem with someone putting it up on youtube, but not 1 day after. It should go up 1 or 2 week(s) after original broadcast. And it should go up on a Ron Paul channel so the proceeds from the views goes to support the channel indirectly.

That video is what encouraged me to subscribe.

with all due respect Mr. McAdams go fuck yourself, I traveled all over this country to straw polls and events to promote Ron, I did all this on my own dime till the last trip and only then accepted a chip in cause everyone wanted me to go. I assisted with the planning and executions of Moneybombs for him and his son, plus much more so I will not be called a GD moocher. If Ron only wants the message in these videos to reach 10,000 of the faithful and never expand beyond that I guess he can but I would myself like to see these videos reach millions

The last part is fine with me.
I don't want to waste money on netflix or some useless service, what i want is good programming.
Ron has provided that for me, at the cost of netflix.
if i want to do outreach, there is plenty of content already on youtube, to do that outreach.

i subscribed because i want this project to continue.
without that support, its doesn't continue.
these videos will be archived for posterity. that is important.
i'd rather have 10 years of ron paul channel videos, than a year's worth with a footnote of failure for 'his ideas' in wiki history.

Compare the cost of cable or dish programming with its barrage of propaganda and lies to the small cost of the RonPaulChannel and all the things you will not only learn for yourself but will be able to teach to others as you spread liberty. We have always said that we are Ron Paul's media with pride. Well the brushfires are spreading even farther now with the RonPaulChannel launch. If money is tight, you could probably lower your internet speed slightly and pay for it with the money you save from that. Are you onboard?

Yeah I find the mindset that charging for a service is unfair. I paid for it. I can afford 10$/mth for some good news. I understand some people can't or don't want to pay for it. I think that's absolutely fine. I would encourage people to definitely subscribe. I think it's an awesome news outlet. I wouldn't get really upset about it though. If you think it's going to fail you know it might. It might succeed too. I think it'll be interesting to see what market forces really kind of influence the channel.

WTF? Ron Paul doesn't owe you a damn thing, so I don't know what the hell you're going on about with the first part of your statement. Glad you got a chip-in. I think a lot of us could have used that. but please don't play the martyr card, right? It's pathetic.

Ron Paul is doing something here I don't think you recognize. He's attempting roll with the Becks of the world, who followers have no problem paying for it. I hope the hell he succeeds, but if the reception on this site is any indication, I despair. Thankfully, I know this movement is a hell of a lot bigger than this place.

did I say Ron owed me a fucking thing anywhere in that statement? NO! I said that I am no fucking moocher and that if he wants this to only cater to a small group fine but that I would like to see it succeed and expand beyond that!

I'm such a moocher that I gave over 3 grand to the cause during the last election. I'm such a moocher I'd donate to a free Ron Paul channel so others not in the movement can see it. Get back to me when you have something other than name-calling you prick.

I don't need to pay Ron Paul to speak to me unless its in person. I'll gladly pay Ron Paul to speak to others. He isn't telling me anything I don't already know.

You say small, I say large and ever growing.

It's not professional for moderators of a site to be cursing at other posters. What Would Ron Paul Do :toady:

Normally when something is free, You are the product.

If its funded by US then we can hold it accountable. Free market people don't believe in subscription fees anymore?

Im sure if the prices are too high that they will see it and lower it but 120.00 a year is less that many peoples cable bill for a month.

Well, you're missing the point then about what Ron Paul is attempting here.

He's telling you things that you already know. If that's his goal then it doesn't live up to a larger goal many of us "moochers" were hoping for.

Have you been reading this site lately? It's pretty clear a lot of people need a refresher. But let me state: this is a news venture (not the same as a education venture).
