Ron Paul and how the tea party movement really got started!

I remember post and video's about this during of the 2008 campaign.

But who's counting.

Then I think Rick Santelli energized a whole bunch of people on to the streets and amongst each other.

P.S. I don't think you can say it is anyone's movement. That just sort of seems to go against the whole grain of the thing. It sucks the life out of it.

Though it is what it is because of all of us, and a sum of how we feel.

If I recall correctly, the first stirrings of the nascent Tea Party movement took place on December 16, 2007.

It started in 2006 with 9/11 truthers dumping the 9/11 commission report into the Boston harbor. Then in 2007, after the big Nov 5th money-bomb, some folks were all excited about a "tea party" rally, but were all twsted in knots when they realized truthers had an event planned a year in advance. The truthers were nice and promised not to "crash" the rally (I think they held theirs somewhere else) even though they had planned theirs first. Hold your rally on a day of an anti protestant terrorist (Nov 5th), no problem. Be remotely connected with folks that actually agree with this movement 99%, problem (for some folks).

Anyway, the "tea party" theme has been "hijacked" over and over again. As L.E. nicely pointed out, the original date was 1773. There was a Goldwater "tea party" movement too if I recall correctly.

Any mention of "tea party" has an implication of context within "today's" political environment.

As for any event staged by truthers, it was, for all intents and purposes, a politically unknown, non-event which was not supporting any political movement.

On the other hand, the events of Dec 16th was a nationwide rally of support for Ron Paul's revolution to change the political environment of our nation. Our small community here in Brazoria County had more than 500 attending our "tea party" at Western Seafood Wharf.

Big difference.
