Romney did no better than Paul

Excerpt from Ron Paul's letter that was posted yesterday on his site:

"So, while the media will focus on the results from Florida, and probably take down the campaign of my friend Rudy in the process, those results are less important to you and me. Let them fight in Florida while we bring our message to Americans in other areas, like the economically hard-hit state of Maine."

Reminder - Florida is a winner-take-all state for delegates. Ron Paul was right not to campaign there. His 3% meant as much as Romney's 32% - absolutely nothing.

Do not be discouraged at all by these results.

Thanks for that. I feel it is much-needed around here right now.

I highly doubt McCain will last long. He's proving himself to have no idea what an "economy" is, and he has a terrible temper.

He's proving it to us but not the rest of the country :(

Oh but Romney spent many many millions to do this poorly :)

First of all, Romney didn't do poorly.

Secondly, our party is screwed up the butt. The people in Florida are idiots and I have no clue why they voted for McCain.

Unless we do something Romney and Paul aren't going to get the nomination, and Hillary or McCain will be the next president of the United States. We both lose.

Absolutely correct!

I love what he said about Maine. I live in Portland, ME. Got to shake his hand and see him speak at the university. He is the only candidate with a campaign office in this socialistic state.

Thanks for the perspective my fellow Patriot, I for one will sleep good tonight.

Romney got second place momentum for Super Tuesday
Yep, not to mention name recognition. All we heard about up to this election was Romney - McCain. Even today someone asked me who I voted for and I told them and they had no clue as to who Ron Paul was.

I'll be nice and just call Florida a missed opportunity for RP's Campaign staff.

0=0. Delegates are what count. We tied for second! :)

Ah, the stupidity of winner-take-all, giving everything to the guy with only 36% but nothing to the guy with 31%...

Everyone read this and good night.

They have set things up for the Republican party to lose this time. Hilary will beat Mccain (so will Obama).

They are going for a one/two punch--a Democrat in the WH and the Republican party destroyed.

But, Ron Paul has been around their block a few times. Just follow him and do as he says. That's our best chance for beating them.

You see, Ron Paul would beat Hilary, and he wouldn't be beholden to any neocons.

Romney did no better than Paul.
Very good post and very good title too.
Believe it or not I really think we did better than Romney because we saved a pretty big money while we gained over 60 thousand votes plus Gulliani is out plus Huck finished 4th
I am very happy with that!

Romney got second place momentum for Super Tuesday

Well we don't want McCain to run away with it do we?

What I meant was that Romney came out delegate wise no worse than Ron Paul, but spent far more money. Whatever momentum he has he will have to reach deeper into his pocket to pay for.

Of course we Ron Paul supporters will have to reach deeper into ours as well.

Wow, this gave me tons of confidence... :)

We can win, and we will win!

I've been converting teachers left and right at my school... The feeling is excellent! Time to do some more.

Yes, ignoring vast parts of the country is a perfectly sane and good strategy, I mean, look how well it worked for Giuliani, right? McCain has amazing momentum going into Feb 5th, and Romney's name is going to be everywhere constantly. It doesn't matter whether he got the Florida delegates or not, Florida isn't going to fucking make or break the delegate count, neither are any of the states that have voted so far, it's why even talking about various technicalities concerning delegates seemed so asinine to me. Jan 1st to Feb 4th is all about building a name, no one cares about who actually gets the delegates. This election is going to be decided on Feb 5th, on both sides, you can fucking hold me to that. It's over after that. So if you need or want to do something to get Ron Votes, you have 150 hours and clock is running.

It was a loss, and not only that, it was a crushing loss. You can play all the semantics games you want, but the fact is that Ron doesn't have the support either McCain or Romney do, all mincing words and technicalities with delegates isn't going to do crap for us. For example, Obama and Clinton can have these kind of arguments, because one gets the popular vote, one gets more delegates in some situations, they can argue about who actually won. A brokered convention involving Ron Paul is a pipe dream that just isn't going to happen. All that money we gave to Ron, and he's doing what with it? I kept hearing about waiting for this media blitz before Feb 5th, how I'm going to be tired of seeing his face on TV so much. Well, where the fuck is that? We're 6 days away, a last minute weekend blitz isn't going to even remotely have a chance of working.

As the field falls this morning, John McCain is now set to have 875 delegates by the night of Feb 5th. He would have to pick up less than 1/3rd of the rest of the delegates after that to not win the nomination. He is going to have to pull a Dean Scream in the next 150 hours or have an aneurysm to not basically lock in this nomination, and all that would do is shift it all into Romney's basket.

I highly doubt McCain will last long. He's proving himself to have no idea what an "economy" is, and he has a terrible temper.

Ron needs to goad him in the next debate so that that temper shows on national TV!
