This thread is for discussing the robocall message referred to in http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?294454-Winning-Florida-s-Presidency-5-Straw-Poll

The purpose of the robocalling is to quickly come up with a significant list of Ron Paul supporters throughout Florida and direct them to presidency5.com so they can register for the Presidency 5 straw poll by the June 10 deadline. It isn't meant to convert anyone to Ron Paul, nor is it meant to be the sole contact with Ron Paul supporters. Phonebanking for the straw poll among identified Ron Paul supporters may occur later if the robocalling is successful and there are volunteer callers.

The robocalls will direct Ron Paul supporters to ronpaulwinsflorida.com (don't click yet, there's nothing there), where they will be asked for their email address, county of Republican registration, phone number, and whatever else we agree on. It will also direct them to presidency5.com to register for the straw poll by the June 10 deadline.

Feel free to discuss all aspects of this plan here. I'll start with some questions and my ideas about them.

How should Ron Paul supporters be identified?

In discussion of robocalling in Iowa, I've seen people propose issue-focused questionaires for identifying likely Ron Paul supporters. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind this is--maybe legal restrictions on certain kinds of organizations? Without knowing the reasoning behind such indirect methods, I'm inclined to identify Ron Paul supporters with a straightforward poll listing all the Republican presidential candidates.

Since we're looking for people who would go beyond merely voting in a primary by being willing to spend $175 on a ticket and perhaps more on transportation to Orlando, we may want to ask a question that picks up more commitment than just "who would you vote for?". E.g., "If you would consider donating to a Republican presidential candidate this year, who would you donate the most to?"

How should candidates be listed?

These robocalls will be noticed by our competitors. People will probably assume that the robocalls are a push-poll by one of the presidential campaigns and wonder which one has the money and organization to be focusing on Florida so soon. I'd rather people speculate that it is Mitt Romney than one of the so-called "Tea Party" rivals to Ron Paul like Herman Cain or Michelle Bachmann, because the less attention they get, the better. Thus, I think Mitt Romney should be listed first.

However, I think Herman Cain and Michelle Bachmann should be listed next. If a voter is tempted by one of them before hearing Ron Paul's name, then they are pretty dubious. For the same reasons, I think Ron Paul should be listed last. Gary Johnson should be in there somewhere too.

What message should be given to those who enter a vote for Ron Paul?

I propose repeating something simple like this:

Thank you for supporting Ron Paul. Please visit ron paul wins florida dot com to find out how you can help Ron Paul win the critical straw poll at the most exciting political extravaganza of 2011, Presidency 5 in Orlando! That website again is ron paul wins florida dot com .

How much information should be required from Ron Paul supporters at ronpaulwinsflorida.com?

We would like to get as much information as possible from Ron Paul supporters so that we can keep them updated on their caucuses and remind them of deadlines, fees, opportunities for transportation and sponsorship, etc.

On the other hand, if we ask for too much information, people might not give any and go straight to Presidency5.com themselves. If they bypass the form altogether, we lose touch with them and also lose our ability to measure the effectiveness of the robocalls.

At the minimum I think we should ask for email address and county. Keep in mind that Presidency 5 only accepts online registrations, so anyone able to register at all will almost certainly have an email address.

It would be nice to have mobile phone numbers as well for phonebanking and SMS messages. (Ron Paul would have won the SRLC 2010 straw poll if an SMS had been sent out to everyone who got tickets from YAL/C4L when voting started.)

what about robo-polling two questions for correlation purposes. for example, you ask callers to pick who they are going to vote for THEN ask what issue is going to determine your vote or what issue is most important to them...or something like that. along the way you find paul voters but you also get a sense of what issues are important to voters of other candidates. thoughts?

It's too late for Presidency 5. The application deadline was June 10.
