That cash on hand figure is a little concerning going into the final push. I assume DeFazio raised substantially more early in the campaign. Drop Art a few bucks today!

Most of it is pre-2012 money, the leftovers from the 2010 election.

Media item is up regarding fundraised numbers.

Republican challenger Art Robinson edged incumbent Peter DeFazio, the Oregon 4th District House Democrat, in third-quarter fundraising, according to the campaigns’ latest filings with the Federal Elections Commission. But DeFazio has a significant advantage when it comes to cash left in the bank three weeks before the election.

Robinson’s campaign reported contributions of close to $370,000 between July and October, while DeFazio brought in around $318,000 over the same period.

However, at the start of the month, DeFazio’s campaign reported having around $622,000 in “cash-on-hand” — or unspent campaign funds — while Robinson’s reported around $115,000.

For the election cycle, which dates back to the start of 2011, both candidates have raised around $1 million, putting them within striking distance of the approximately $1.3 million they each raised in 2010, the first time Robinson challenged longtime incumbent DeFazio for the seat.

As in 2010, however, spending by outside groups could ultimately give Robinson a money edge. Republican Super PAC, Inc. — a political action committee based in Terre Haute, Ind. — started purchasing radio and television ads in support of Robinson in late July. To date, the group has spent close to $280,000 on his behalf.

No groups have yet reported similar independent expenditures on DeFazio’s behalf.
