RFK Jr. blasts Biden for sending cluster bombs to Ukraine, a year after Psaki said it could 'be a war crime'

Democratic presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. has called on President Biden to "stop the ceaseless escalation" between the United States and Russia after he gave his administration the green light to send controversial weapons known as cluster munitions to Ukraine.

"Last year, WH Press Secretary Jen Psaki called the use of cluster bombs a 'war crime.' Now President Biden plans to send them to Ukraine. Stop the ceaseless escalation! It is time for peace," Kennedy wrote in a tweet.

"Biden was opposed to cluster bombs in 1982 as well, when he opposed their sale to Israel," Kennedy, who entered the White House race in April, added in a separate tweet. "What happened to his conscience?"

Kennedy's remarks come after the Biden administration announced this week that its latest aid package to Ukraine would include cluster munitions, which are bombs that release smaller explosives across a wide area when detonated. Cluster-type bombs have been banned by more than 100 countries, because they are known to kill or maim civilians. In many cases, dud submunitions fall to the ground without exploding but unexpectedly detonate later, even years after they were dropped.

With the corruption present, it wouldn’t surprise me to learn of weapons we paid for and sent to Ukraine are being sold to someone else to fund someone’s cocaine habit.

Back in 1975 they came up with what they called the Improved version ( M483A1) . We used these loaded into 155 Artillery shells that were basically to use on enemy infantry along with another round called Variable Time which is an air burst above the enemy. First entered use in '61 in 105 Arty pc'.s. The 155 arty shells could hold 88 grenades total of two different types, Fail rates of american grenades estimated at 3 percent and fail rate of russian rounds in ukranian arsenal at 30 percent . Fail rate of turkish rounds isnt known. So basically you would use the russian rounds firing into russian territory or in your areas that are already restricted ( mine fields etc) and the american rounds otherwise. I was always a big fan of regular HE ( high explosive ) rounds and used those almost exclusively, also at night under illumination rounds. Cluster munitions have a suspect effectiveness based on estimations from southeast asia. Basically , a lot of countries have these cluster 155 rounds sitting around and they are being sent because the good shit ( HE , which they call something else now) is running low
