Report: Ron Paul supporters at the University of Maryland Huckabee rally

Huckabee's speech had zero substance. I left after 10 minutes because it was nauseating to listen to.

Me and about 15 other RP supporters waved signs and handed out slimjims at the doors to the hundreds of sheeple that passed by. People were pretty receptive to the hand-outs and we reminded them to keep an open mind and to learn more about Ron Paul as well as Mike Huckabee. Five people were angered by our sheer presence. Two people called me insane and 1 Huckster tried to call the cops on us for simply exercising our 1st Amendment rights in the most popular UMD-designated free speech zone on campus.

Out of the dozens of Hucksters I spoke to. Only 3 of them were even remotely informed about their candidate and the issues.

After the rally, I managed to shake Huckabee's hand before he boarded his bus. I did this as a courtesy gesture and thanked him for taking time out of his schedule to speak at the campus regardless of philosophical disagreements. I also thanked him on behalf of the campus RP group, Maryland Students for Liberty).

10% of the people that we handed literature to (we had about 300+ slimjims on hand) actually approached us and requested them. There were a few individuals that wanted to "trade" campaign literature (to which I happily agreed).

I shook his hand once. He has a LOT of charisma. Unfortunately for me, I was shaking his hand for sticking up for freedom of the rights of small business owners. Less than a year later he reversed his policy, therefore lying to my face.

If only every time we went to another candidates rally it worked liked this. we wouldn't have an image problem and we would be polling so much higher. Than you, I hope your serves as an example.
